 		[SPEC] What is the "Truth" being sought?
PF/Seeker is looking for the truth, and manipulating Melissa to get to it.
Herzog is also looking for a truth.
Someone is killing the Apocalypso crew to hide a truth.
Someone wiped the Apocalypso computer systems to hide a truth.

Melissa got away, but how? Did she jump herself out of the Apocalypso?
Did the PF/Seeker hijack her out of the Apocalypso?
Did the SP jump her out?

Let's go back to what we know.
They picked up an artifact.
Capt. Greene decided to turn for home.
The Apoc. crashed out of slipspace.
The appearance of the Apoc. caused communications disruptions in Cable and Chatter (C&C).
The crew survived the crash, but are being eliminated.
Troy was partially evac'ed then glassed.
The evac was covered up.

Melissa/PF are using Durga to uncover "the Truth"

The sound files are the key.

I guess we just have to wait to find out the story.

i personally think that it's the coordinates of earth. The pious flea acts an awful lot like the covnanent ai in First Strike (albeit a lot more basic). I think that it's trying to manipulate the earth AI(s) into thinking it's a friendly process...but to do so, maybe it had to split the AI in 2 (my personal theory on the SP...not that i actually believe it, i just think it's a possiblity). Anyways...FFIJISDjiasjrts ATPOTsSTQ!1!!1!!! (that was as random as i could possibly make it).

BAM!!!! i was right (mostly). Horray for me, and horray for bumping a very old topic that no one cares about anymore...

The Covenant already know the coordinates of Earth, though. At least in First Strike they did.

As for the truth... that is the eternal question. Smile

1. Troy was glassed and ONI knew about it, but why is Harmony the important one?
2. The existance/true nature of the artifact.
3. The Spartan program is stealing children to turn into SIIs

I'm trying to correlate the PF as an ONI construct, but have little evidence except the fact that they are both seeking the truth, or some truth. Also, Melissa intercepted a communication from McKaskill to an "old man". The transmission was in reply to the old man, so PF could theoretically hitched aboard that communication or been planted by the old man himself (cleared to come aboard)

 		[OT/HUMOR] Well, you see, in reality, the Covies are really Vogons, and the Vogons really wanted to thwart the Mice, so the PF, which is a Covie/Vogon AI, is trying to get the Question to the Ultimate Answer, before the Mice do. But, of course, they're gonna fail. So are the mice, but that's beside the point.

Back on topic now.

The Truth could be anything. It could be the name of a person, a message, the location of something... But, why is the truth-seeker in our time, is the question, while using something in their time to seek it out. Who knows what it is, aside from the PMs and Bungie, assuming that they're different groups. Maybe Dana has something to do with the truth. Maybe the truth has something to do with Star Wars: Episode III. Maybe the truth really dosn't matter at all, it's just a random catchphrase they added in. Kinda like the 'connection' in the i love bees / building a voice wavs. Did that ever add up to anything? I don't think it did, but I may have just missed something...

Anyways, the Truth is strange, random and changing. Personally, I kinda like the idea that Dana might be part of, or have something to do with, the truth, and she's not the innocent bystander that we've all assumed her for in this whole thing. Another plot twist from the PMs, and one that would be rather suprising, too.

According to the timeline we are getting from the .wavs, Melissa was infected before the artifact came on board:

It is possible that a message might have been sent beforehand. It seemed like only one message was sent though. It is good spec though, just seeing if I can find any holes in it.

I'm pretty sure that whoever it was that used "C&C" was referring to "Command and Control", a military term used to emphasize the strategic value of fast, reliable, and secure lines of communication.

Yeah, you might be right. I called it cable and chatter because in "goodbye.wav" the lieutenant comes in and says: " a lot of chatter from the cable sir" indicating that the "cable" is another form of communication besides chatter. It's spec, and probably should be labeled as such.

 		Looking into it a bit more, I don't think the "truth" is the location of Earth at all.

So the truth relates to an event on the Apocalypso, so Melissa's truth is the same as the CoM's truth.

But this still doesn't bring us any closer to what the Truth is. I don't mean to be counterproductive, or offensive or anything, but I don't think we have enough info to figure out exactly WHAT the truth is yet. But I guess it can't hurt to think and talk about it. And with that, I'll stop putting my foot in my mouth and let you guys spec. Smile

See my original post. The easiest thing to do is wait for the story to be revealed, but where's the fun in that?
Ever since these latest axon events, spec around here has been very light.
I'm just trying to drum up some ideas. Feel free to add whatever you think.

[SPEC] I'll try and keep this short. Okay we know something infected Melissa on the Apocalypso. Lets say that what infected Melissa was the PF and it is Covenent and that it was looking for the coordinates for earth. And lets suppose that it found them, but could transmit for fear of being caught and erradicated out of the system. So when the Apocalypso got to earth it got Melissa to crash it out of slip space and wiped the records on the ship to cover its tracks, or to "hide a truth". When the Apocalypso crashed, the PF and Melissa tried to escape over the chatter network and this is what caused it to go down. However something else that was unexpected happened. The crash out of slipspace caused some kind of time warp and Melissa and PF somehow ended up in our time, and a partition of Melissa, i.e. Durga, ended up on Jersey's system. Durga and Melissa are still connected through the time warp. And since the PF's and Melissa's memory got messed up, the PF is still "seeking the truth" which is Earth's coordinates. The problem now is that there are not reliable star charts during our time which makes it hard for the PF to find the Truth. This is just a spec on johnny_nitro's original post. Sorry didn't mean to hijack the topic, its really late here.
