do you use XBconnect???

I believe I tried it a bit when it just started out, but that was before I had a router, and it was just too much trouble... having 3 or 4 people per game on a good day is still pretty depressing... I have loads of fun a few times a week when friends come over having at least 4 people playing multiplayer on the 2 networked boxes I have Smile

ya, I think I can 'sacrifice' xbconnect until the real online gameplay in H2 is available Wink

Bruce, I've read a few of your posts and you seem to be as much obsessed with halo as I am. It's funny how it's a game that I just cannot get bored with, it's impossible, whether it's playing campaign or multi. We also got boxes with halo the day they came out and have basically been playin religiously ever since. For the last two years we have been playing system link (2-4 boxes) almost daily, and for the last half year been playing XBconnect (nothing like pounding people from another country...). Anywho, what is your handle/gamertag for xbox live? Seeing as we're both in canada and i usually get good ping with Ontario boxes, i'll have to look you up when halo2 arrives and I go live.... Cool

umm handle... xbox live... *looks around* *scratches head* theBruce?

Wink
I was a beta tester, I got my name with no problems...

anyway, yeah... I don't think I play quite that much Smile but I used to be the best of all my friends, until they picked up xboxs and halo themselves, and with more time on their hands, they play far more than me... but I think on average, I'm still tied with one or two other friends for the most skilled of us... Smile but it ranges... some games I can finish twice as good as 2nd place, and some games I might come 2nd to last... so... but it's always great fun Smile

I also was way into Halo and the Halo-verse before I stumbled onto the ILB thing. I haven't contributed a lot since I'm either at school (grad school can be a beyotch) or at home with dial up. This is a cool community to lurk in.

I'm not great at Halo, but I'd be down for a ILB thrashing. My name is... you guessed it, kwayzeeyt.

Not concerned about Halo2...

Dude, I hate to break it to you, but Halo 2 will not be coming out for PC. The demand (which you illustrate perfectly) for a PC version that works with Xbox versions over Live is impossible, so they're not going to bother. If you didn't know, the PC version of Halo 1 wasn't made by Bungie. A group picked it up with permissions to re-create it on PC, which they did to minimal success.

Having played both versions, and despite the improved multiplayer aspect of the PC version, I'm going to claim that the Xbox version is still tons better, if only because not everyone can run the same game on every PC. Mine, for example, is 4 years old and would crumple under the pressure of Halo 1, much less a port of Halo 2.

Sorry if it breaks your heart, but your attitude seems to emulate that it won't be a big concern to you.

Heh. Not really. I am finishing up SW:KOTOR, have Farcry on a shelf, and am merely waiting for Half-Life 2 to drop so I can download it off Steam. Then I should have a couple of solid years of Half-Life 2 mods to keep me happy. Or I might get around to replaying Doom3 on Nightmare difficulty...or trying to replay it anyway...

EDIT:
Actually.....since it has come up...any non-xbox halo1 players here? I am always in the mood for playing a good FPS with non-F***tards. The price is only about $20 for the PC version now, so I'd be up for it.

Maybe I should make my own thread...

Yep I am a rabid stalker of all Bungie games ever since Pathways and Marathon. Currently have a Halo Lan every weekend with buds. I do have two TV's in the same room so 4v4 maddess is a usuall. But when people are in short supply XBC is the way to go.

I'm here to devour and obsess over the Halo universe, just like I did with Marathon.

Halo 2 will rock my world.

I'm one of those people, but (to avoid the argument), I disagree on which group stumbled into ILB. Given Bungie's history, and everything.

I'm avoiding an argument as well, so technically speaking this is not an argument, but another dog that looks just like an argument. The jars of honey were received before the Halo trailer, so technically the ball did start firmly in the ARG court. Very Happy

(that said, I'm a Halo type myself, although I did vaguely follow the beast back in the day)

What better way to get ARGers to play ILB than have them recieve info about ILB before the purpose of the game is revealed in a Halo trailer?

To get a group of people to do something they'd otherwise not consider their 'thing', one must reveal the scope of the game until after they've gotten hooked.

Would this forum be here, had the Halo trailer been released first? Well, I don't think I need to 7ell you the answer to that...

/last thing, seriously

Interesting argument, although it seems kind of roundabout. I can guarantee that if the Halo trailer appeared first you would not be arguing the same way at all. Smile

Yeah, I visited ilovebees.com after seeing it in the Halo 2 trailer.

I found ILB after six hours of surfing everything related to Doom III. It was the end of July, I could almost taste the sands of Mars and suddenly, after a random unintentional refresh of ign.com, I saw a new link. I swear it must've been like three minutes after it was uploaded, when I saw a bee and "Halo 2." Being a huge fan and also anxiously waiting for Halo 2 (Doom was meant to tide me over) I clicked and learned of the honey and the trailer and the website. I floundered for like an hour aghast at the sheer volume o finformation. Soon, though, I was busy. As college had not yet started I had plenty of time (eleven hours or so) to catch up on the Marathon backstory, the Cortana letters and the already pages and pages of BeeWiki. I lurked for a long time until it beecame too much.

I am enjoying ILB as I wait for Halo 2 and when the buzz (sorry) dies down I'll be on the lookout for the next ARG that will suck me in and make my girlfriend shake her head and laugh.

Ironically, I was brought to ILB by a Nintendo fanatic. My gf's older sister just kept mentioning ILB in passing conversation until I finally had to check it out. And now she's gone and bought her first house and is much to busy to play, so I just sit here analyzing data, being a high school student, tuesday axons don't work into my schedule. But yea, I don't own an X-box myself or anything, I just play halo at parties...

You have gots to get yourself an xbox and a copy of Halo.... endless hours of entertainment awaits... not that there is anything wrong with a little halo spicing up a party Laughing When my friends and I drink/ have finished drinking there is nothing better than a "friendly" game of multiplayer....
