:silly question:
What about those of us who have digital cameras, but not picture phones?

I can call someone to update (IE: have someone make a post on my behalf) right after the axon, but it takes me about two and a half hours driving back from the axon before i have actual computer access.
I don't presume to think my situation's unique, so i was wondering what suggestions you might have if i (and my 8:47PDT Dothan, AL axon) are chosen to participate?

I also am quite excited about this new level of participation between beekeepers, but i'm not so sure about taking my own picture. Wink

Someone mentioned that Kinkos will let you upload pics to the 'net for a fairly low cost IF you have a cable and not just a memory card.

We need the ability to send those photos (via phone) to someone who can upload. And/or manipulate them if needed.

Looks like I'm definitely going to be stuck home all day tomorrow, so I can also take the FW and BC positions. I can post updates on the chat, forums and blog at the same time, so doing all three won't be an issue. MadCow already has my phone number, so if you could give me a call whenever anything changes, that would make posting a lot easier.

I've also taken the liberty of setting up a Moblog. Axon hunters with camera phones can send pictures to beekeepers.beesSPLATtamw.com
To do so, most phones have a "send to" option available after the picture has been taken. Send to this address. Submissions will be found here:

http://beekeepers.textamerica.com/

They can be grabbed and manipulated from that site.

Whenever someone posts a pictue to the moblog, please email me at mjc8804SPLATbjc.org so I can copy it over to another server, and also, if anyone CHANGES a picture, please CC me so I can note the changes, and post the picture.

This will all take place at www.theilovebees.info

MadCow and Phaedra should put both your addresses under the what to do with photos heading in their main messages in the Announcement thread, subhead: camera phone pics.

So does this mean digital camera folks should not send pics to those addresses? Because some people are going to be able to do that quickly from the road too - all they need is a wifi hot spot and their laptop and the cable for the camera....

If so, we may still need other picture hosting options.

Also, if I may be so bold, it may behoove you guys (or some other volunteers) to make yourselves familiar with how JPHIDE works (practice!) in case there is a need to tuck information into those pics and quickly send them somewhere.

I will accept all digital camera pics

I will split the page into phone camera pictures, and digital camera pictures.

I want to have it all in one central location, but since moblog takes pictures from phones, it will be a good resource to send to, and then for me to pull em from there.

Let me know what you guys would think is best.

Remember to name/label your pictures as best you can!!!

Or follow a pic with an explanatory email ("the pic 0174.jpg I just sent you with the guy in a Dead TShirt next to a payphone is jj123 at the 12:10 PDT axon at the xyz Mall")

PS: Mad Cow, Macavity (I assume this is the position you were volunteering for? Evenings)

PASSPHRASE SUPPLIER (PS): This individual will know the most recent passphrases and will be the person to call to find out what the newest passphrase is. They will also have the capability to call axon hunters (say, 5 minutes before their axon time) who have notified them ahead of time that they would like such a call and update them with the most current passphrases.

Yes, that's the one, and I'll be available to do it from 6 AM - 3PM Pacific (that's 9 AM - 6 PM Eastern).

I've never posted before, but I have been reading for a while.
I am going to try to leave work early tomorrow (shouldn't be a problem) so I can get to the Brandon Axon.

27.929223 -082.287542
14:16 PDT

I have a camera phone that takes pretty decent pics (640x480) that can send email and multimedia.
I can also receive email/multimedia.

Working for Nokia techsupport, I know that sometimes there are compatibility issues from service provider to service provider ex.
Sprint picture message being sent to Cingular, doesn't always work.
So there may be some issues with sending and receiving pics.

I have Tmobile with unlimited tzones (email and stuff )and I will gladly accept multimedia pics from those who don't have access to email from their camera phone.
(I could then email it or upload/post here..etc)

Just trying to see how I can help.

I set up a moblog site for coordination tomorrow.

Go here for the pix:
http://ilb.textamerica.com/

For those of you out in the field, just email the pix to
ilb.beesSPLATtamw.com
either from your phone, or if you use a digital cam, regular email works too.

It will post up there immediately with any accompanying text.

well crapcakes, I guess I should read before I post!

(nibbling a bit o' trout) Embarassed

I see there's already a moblog site up!

I don't want to dilute the effort, just go with the first one posted.

Kirsten, I think it may help if you put the send email on the moblog page so people can easily keep track of it.

Hey, I know I'm a late entry here, but another thought:

You may need some PhotoChoppers on the case.

The following people have demonstrated that they are able to use photoshop or some other program to edit pictures (some better than others):

HitsHerMark, thebruce, flask, theduder, thunderclap, nobodyman, incitatus, colin, chappy, pants, inio, scumbag, mykie, mrbeefy, atdt1991, dm, liquid clay, rustedhalo, ariock, blacklotus, jamesi, spacebass, mole888, meta, lmaner311, tron, wallboy, bang3r, sym, halrandir, and superjerms.

I will go ahead and volunteer. PM me if you think it'll be needed.
