What was that puzzle with the slideshow and the pie? It was either AI or Lockjaw, I forget.

This puzzle? So much like that one.

pi/pie = lockjaw. Way more painful. We suffered for almost three weeks with that one, and even had so-called "clues" to help figure it out. We are nowhere near that level of pain yet for the prepositions puzzle. But I'm starting to twitch at the thought that this might end up like that.... Shocked

mmm. pie.

Hrm... musical... looks more promising. Someone with a midi program put that together... but has setting the number of sylibals as the number of beats been tried?

just a thought

this is my first time posting here so: HI EVERYONE! k now that we are done with that i must say i do like that sound idea, i am downloading a midi creator right now. I wanted to menchion though, i don't think anyone has said this yet, i read most of the posts but i was at this site: http://define.ansme.com and i was testing words that sound like preposition, then i tried forty one, then i tried just one, and i was intregead that for a %100 match it said ONI. I tried a few things like ONI_proposition and stuff but i suck at these riddles. They are usually done by the time I get home from school so i don't usually get to participate much, but thats ok. I hope someone hasn't said this yet, and if so forgive me ^_^

What if the number 41 isn't "Forty-one" but "four one" ie: "for one"?

Thinking along those lines I tried:

for_one_thing
for_one_place
place_for_one
table_for_one
position_for_one
proposition_for_one
preposition_for_one
too_many_prepositions
too_many_propositions
room_for_one
for_one_room
four_one_place
four_one
place_four_one

Nada. Sad

I tried flipping that image 180 degrees and synching it up with the "regular" to see if it would spell something in the open space BETWEEN, but I got nothing. But it was interesting to see that the word BETWEEN lined up because there's an odd number of words. It's BETWEEN all the other words. Probably nothing, but...

I can't check the wav files myself. I get an accessed denied because I'm at work. Something that sounds like between?

Unseen? Unclean?

It could be something. Both clues are BETWEEN a pair of lines. Between is between the other prepositions. Read between the lines. Etc.

Could that be it right there? read_between_the_lines.wav or something? Again, unfortunately I can't check to see wav files from here.

No go on read_between_the_lines.wav although I'm sure it's been tried before.

I am also sure that this puzzle is very simple in a complicated sort of way.

what was that clockwise clue way back when about?

as for the 41 prepositions thing. i remember someone saying there was a song using them to the beat of yankee doodle... then someone else broke the words up into numbers to dial into the phone.. well i played it for my friend and she said it sounded like yankee doodle.. so there are 2 links with that song so maybe it does have something to do with it? heck try macaroni.wav or something lol i just figured i'd bring up some old ideas to maybe spark someone's memory

Could be. I learned a version of the preposition song in 6th grade English which was set to the tune of yankee doodle. I apologize for the length, but the one I know (the problem with having a good memory is that nothing ever leaves you, even the STUPID things) is:

with
on
for
after
at
by
in
against
instead of
near
between
through
over
up
according to
around
about
beyond
into
until
within
without
upon
from
above
across
along
towards
before
behind
below
beneath
beside
during
under

It's possible I'm forgetting a bit, but my song/list seems to be less exhaustive with only 35 prepositions, with a couple requiring the addition of of and to.

EDIT: The ILB list counts "to" seperately. This is probably correct, as you can say "according to President Bush" but you can also simply say "sent a letter to my mom". I'm not entirely clear whether of is a true standalone preposition.
