Re-reading the initial SP messages fom thebruce's site.

What was the Queen before she was the Queen? Dead, that's what! The Widow fixed her. So A spirit? a ghost?.. ghosts and spirits can be everywhere.. around, above, beneath..etc...

At first, I believe it was The Widow that tried to supress the SP, so maybe that's who she's talking about.

I would do some testing, but I don't have time.

I do not think that is it.

It looks like she is referring to Melissa. According to the Widow's story, the Queen was a Queen before she died (became dormant, had the accident, etc.). Possibly, becoming a queen refers to her becoming an AI. So what was Melissa before she became an AI?

A girl?

But how on earth does that fit in with the clues we already have?

Not so sure about that. Before Melissa became an AI, she and the Sleeping Princess where one and the same. In one sense, Melissa did not even exist before she became an AI. This question seems to ask what was she before she crashed/went crazy. So I agree with the 'operator' answer.

Melissa never *became* an AI - she always was an AI... that was the name given to her as an AI. First there is Yasmine, the girl, who is flashcloned. An AI is built, and named Melissa, and nicknamed "The Operator" by her ships crew. Then, some accident happens, and Melissa's personality becomes fragmented - into the Queen, the Sleeping Princess, and Durga.

I like the answer operator.

The prepositions are all locators. Operator "sounds like" locator. Unfortunately operator.wav doesn't work, so I think there's (at least) one more word in the file name that we need.

So, it appears that the possible answers to the SPs latest "clue" (and what they could 'sound like') are:

Melissa -- "a list of"
Operator -- "a parade of"
Widow -- ??
Girl
Yasmine
Dead
Spirit
Ghost
Shipwrecked

Is this at all helpful?

Except that, looking just at the clue itself, there is nothing to indicate that "before the crash" is what the SP is referring to. All she says is "before she became a Queen." Melissa is referred to as the Queen before the crash(in the Widow's Journey). So assuming that the clue is referring to "before the crash" just doesn't make sense to me.(IMH, and often wrong, O, of course)

I'm thinking that the "didn't really exist" line is the more profitable one. Though I'm personally starting to get some serious brain-melt trying to fit whatever I derive out of the SP's clue to the clues we had previously.

Im between shifts at work and thought I'd drop this by.
I was talking to a co-worker and he pointed out that it wasn't just a list
of 41 prepositions, it is also a series.

I tried www.ilovebees.com/outbound/a_serious_proposition.wav and
www.ilovebees/outbound/serious_proposition.wav, nothing.

Gee, it's always great to get a "hint" that nobody has any clue whatsoever of its meaning. Thanks PMs.

Also, for all of you jumping right to words that rhyme with 41 or prepositions, etc... The words are given in some order, and in my puzzle experience, this is significant. If the order didn't matter, it would be alphabetized. There's never a random order in a well constructed puzzle (anagrams being a special case). So, I suggest figuring out what the hint means, and how it relates to these individual words, and coming up with a method for decoding the list. Unfortunately the hint isn't ringing any bells, so we're probably going to spin in circles a while longer.

I tend to agree with you, but my instinct also says the hint should make it easier than that - agreed it was what we should have done last week, but the purpose of the hint was to give a very well disguised back path around all the stuff..

.. which still leaves us in the dark. And I won my IRC bet, that we would solve all of this weeks puzzles before the Prepositions. Way this is going, we'll never solve it...

How about "everywhere" or "scattered"
that might fit in with all those propositions
