Justa random thought. the SP tells us to think of what melissa was before. or what she was previously. and we have preposition, which could be read as pre position... and at that point my train of thoughts ends .

in hacker slang (i thinkr efured to as l337 or something) 4=A and 1=I. there are 41(AI) before a queen she was an AI. so maybe its ai_operation or something

Maybe this could help... This page: http://ilb.extrasonic.com/index.php/MAYDAY_text from way back when, has Melissa mentioning that she was a sailor. Perhaps this is the answer to SPs riddle? The PREvious POSITION the operator held was sailor.
Unfortunately, sailor.wav doesn't work. Does this give anyone any great ideas?

According to Dana's perspective, before Melissa was a queen she was a bug. In her first blogs she repeatedly referred to Melissa as a bug. I wonder if that would be the direction SP was leading us.
Zoom out.

BTW did anyone else send the SP emails? I know i sent 1 kinda congradulating her on her puzzle and stuff so i was wondering if i was the only one who 'flatterd' her. And if thats what she even meant by that statment of flattery *shrug*
I also sent her an e mail in which, among other things, I asked her to do me a favor and send us another clue for this puzzle...
I only wish the clue was helping us more than it has thus far.

hmm... i like it.
What do you think about:
Forty-One prepositions
Forerunner _________
Maybe some combination of the two???
(tried a few things.. but it's late and my brain quit about 10 hours ago.)

I had Forerunner for awhile but in "The Fall of Reach" they explain that it is
only hypothesized by a few that a race like the Forerunner exists. Herzog
obviously believes that the "Artifact" is of Covenant origin so he would never
have said the "F" word.

I think SP's new hint isn't a direct clue to the answer, but mor a clue of how we should think about the original clues.
In other words, we shouldn't be looking for a word that sounds like "girl" or "shipwrecked" and just trying that as the wav, but rather think of how those words relate back to the original clues.
I think if we keep that in mind we'll save ourselves some wasted time and effort.

Yes, I agree. It's a clue to the help understand the clue. Unfortunately,
even with a clue to the clue, we are still entirely clueless . I mean, at this
point, I feel like plum_library_candlestick is as effective as anything
else that I've tried.
Admittedly, I've only put about 20 hours into staring at the 404 page (where
others are probably well past 50) yet it seems so Fenukin' absurd that I can't
help but try different directions. If I didn't, I'd be done with this BullShoot.

If she was a sailor, ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) seems the way to go.

Reading what you've all said I got the idea of getting "op" in front of the rhyme for preposition.... (or the seperation of the word at least, since pre position and "what was Melissa before ...." seemed to point at sticking something on the front.....)
opposition?
I tried ai_opposition.wav, opposition.wav even oposition.wav (in case I'm up too early and unable to spell)
Is this going up anyone's flag pole here?

i like both ideas of 41 = AI
and pre-positions = what the queen was before she was the queen
we are still left with sounds like.
could be what her position sounded like--
what the queen was before, sounds like: AI Prepositions
ONI_requisitions anybody? worth a shot
back to thinking pad
we be getting close...
