How were we supposed to get 'upon' from the list of prepositions? Evil or Very Mad

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. Not really sure how we were supposed to arrive at a_pawn given what we had. Still, glad this hairy beast has been solved and we can move on without it hanging over our heads.

/me concurs.

What a sloppy puzzle.

Good puzzles make you say "oh man... I should've thought of that" at the end. This one just makes me sad.

I'm so glad this puzzle is over. Now I can stop compulsively checking this thread and wasting time.

*cries in joy*

I'm now going to listen to a_pawn 8027480 times to get the full effect of it. That puzzle was a whore, so I need to let the glory of it being solved sink in.

What a sloppy puzzle.

Good puzzles make you say "oh man... I should've thought of that" at the end. This one just makes me sad.

SIGH.

Let's recap, shall we?

PMs: Create brilliant ARG with intriguing characters and riveting storyline.
BKs: This is boring! I want more puzzles! Those Censored PMs! I hate this game!
PMs: Provide puzzles hidden in images.
BKs: These puzzles are too easy! We solve them too fast! I want harder puzzles! Those Censored PMs! I hate this game!
PMs: Provide harder puzzles.
BKs: These puzzles are still too easy! I want even harder puzzles! Those Censored PMs! I hate this game!
PMs: Provide preposition puzzle.
BKs: This puzzle is impossible! I want a hint! Those Censored PMs! I hate this game!
PMs: Provide hint.
BKs: That puzzle was terrible! Those Censored PMs! I hate this game!
PMs: Bang Head Stop catering to desires of whining BKs.

For the record, I did slap my forehead when usernameguy posted the answer. Of course! "Sounds like" a preposition that is not on the list. For crying out loud, we've had "What else should be on this list?" puzzles before in this ARG! (so_mean, for example, from the very first set of puzzles the Sleeping Princess gave us weeks ago.)

In retrospect -- and, as they say, hindsight is always 20/20 -- we have solved much, much harder puzzles than this in much, much less time. Don't blame the PMs. They're still doing a masterful job. (My $0.02, anyway.)

Yeah, except the list had 41 prepositions, and there are 100+ in the english language. That leaves 60 or so words to randomly choose from.

I still like to believe the theory that there's a website on the internet somewhere with exactly 42 prepositions though. Razz

I actually thought: Why didn't I think of that.

Congrats, usernameguy! And now that my brain is thoroughly melted... Drool

yeah, this sucks. i'm glad it's over, though. i spent way too much time on this.

kudos to the solver.

and kudos to the PMs. i really do appreciate everything they've put together, even if this one puzzle really makes no sense. some of the others have really blown my mind with thier ingenuity.

So now all we have left to do is get the title of this thread changed, and the new wav file added to the archive on argn. Very Happy

yay usernameguy

good work!!

I don't think there was a reasonable chance in hell that we could have gotten that from the original two clues.

I'll post it again since folks keep asking and I think this may well be the front way into the solve. And it works better if you are l337:

41 prepositions leads to: AI pre-position

In other words, what was the AI before her current position, or what was the Queen before she was a Queen?

So I think the answer is a word or words for what she was before a Queen.

Looking back at my history, I actually tried "pawn" last night, but I didn't try "a_pawn". WTG, usernameguy!
