[spec] Hide-and-seek?

From page 65 of First Strike:

Quote:
A tickle of feedback teased through the data stream.

Cortana locked onto the source of that feedback, listened, discerned a nonrandom pattern to the signal, then cut off contact. She had no time to play hade and seek with whatever else was in their system.

My theories generally turn out to be trouts, but a quick search did not turn up page 65... Anyway, I find "hind and seek" interesting, given that it turns out that Cortana is playing it with a Covenant AI. Does this mean anything in regard to our favorite hide-and-seek player?

it is a good observation... just on gut, i think it may be a coincidence, but there could be something to it.

I think that passage may be instructive to AI cyber combat. How do AIs interact? Can AIs gain advantage from position?

I'm not sure the words "hide and seek" indicate anything really...though it may be a metaphor used by AIs for cyber combat. Cybercombat maybe made more of guerilla actions, constantly dancing through files and directories. In away, you're trying to find the other opponent without them finding you.

Or, "play hide and seek" may be synonymous with "go on a wild goose chase" and it may be total coincidence. I'm leaning toward this concept myself.

Still, despite the fact that the hide and seek quote is probably a concidence, it highlights a pretty relevent passage in First Strike to the events taking place on ilovebees. Especially since most of the action on ilovebees takes place in cyberspace.

Of course, it is OOG. Still...the Game has eventually corroborate much of the Halo speculation. I think it's worth it to take a look at those those passages.
