Has anyone figured out what city skyline is pictured in the first image? www.perplexcity.com/indexB.html
I googled some skyline images ..but I couldn't find even a remote match.
Any one else have any luck?

My feeling is that it's London. Partly because of the close-up shot of just the word 'London' on the fifty pound note and partly 'cause I live here and it feels like London (the buildings across the street from the balcony and a little down the road have a Victorian brick terrace look to them).

In addition, the luggage in the old picture on the projectsyzygy.com page had a tag on it that (I think) looked like it was going to or from London Heathrow airport.

I've checked, and there's an Old Towne street in London, but no Old Town section of London. There's also no Taversen Square.

In general, I think http://www.perplexcity.com/indexB.html is supposed to clue us in to what we should be doing, or will be doing soon. I think the bottom left picture is telling us to "find the colleagues" in that we should - or will be later in the game - looking for people who worked with whomever is giving us clues. My guess is that it's the people listed in the seal of the Perplex City Academy (assuming those are people's names, of course), which is why the seal is featured in the middle left picture. The middle right picture is telling us to look in London for these people. If the top left picture is of London, than that's another clue to look there. I think the top right picture is there to tell us where Perplex City Academy is, since it's showing us the footer on the paper Sente printed the letter on. I don't know what to make of the bottom right picture. Either we're supposed to look to the right of the citiy's highest places (or something), or it's there to focus on the red spotch at the bottom of Sente's letter. I think that's a splotch of blood, but I can't be sure b/c the jpeg compression adds artifacts that could be interpreted as some sort of rose-like pattern. It also looks like it might be fairly thick, so it might be red wax.

Here's my in-game guess on www.perplexcity.com/indexB.html: I think it's a dump of pictures that Sente(?) took with his camera. He knew he was in trouble, so he wrote the letter to ask for help. To give clues, he took pictures with his camera so that whoever found them could figure out what to do. The first picture (top left) shows where he is when he's writing the letter. The next (top right) is where the academy is, then who to look for (middle left), then where to look (middle right), then what to do (bottom left), then "Ooops, they found me. Blarg, I am dead! Here's a picture my camera took when I dropped it when I was killed/attacked" (bottom right, and why it's upside down).

This is my first post, hopefully I'm not putting too much into one post. There really only seems to be one thread right now, which I guess makes sense b/c there's only clue. I didn't see how posting three posts in a row would make for easier discussion than just posting one big one.

I've played around with the top-left picture at www.perplexcity.com/indexB.html in photoshop to see how much information I could get out of it. I still don't recognize where it is, but I think it's much clearer now. I blew it up to double size, tried to both smooth out the jpeg artifacts and sharpen it up to get more detail, and then tried to make the colors correct. Hopefully this is helpful to someone.

Just a brainstorming thought. If you view source on http://www.perplexcity.com/ and http://www.perplexcity.com/indexB.html you'll see the coordinates for the hot spot links.

The easiest method to make these graphical image maps it to make a simple square with just two coordinates. The coordinates for these pages have many more numbers.

Could the images be placed just right so the coordinates themselves are a code?

And a square is a lot closer to a cube than a circle is. Would they be trying to stay away from anything resembling a cube for any reason?

I'm new here. Hiya!

This is a possibility, although its not uncommon to see circular image maps, especially if they used an WYSIWYG to create the page.

Also, has anyone tried anything with the numbers actually in the errorlog files? Im specifically talking about the ones that describe people logging into what I assume is gatehouse 24.

Stock Images

Hi Guys,

I'm another newbie, who stumbled in here from an ilovebees post. I've been following the posts in various forums and thought I would add my 2 cents:

Everyone is focusing on the pictures in indexB.html, but what about the text in page /2718281828/?

I may be way off base here, but, something was bothering me about the images and the text.

Stock Images lit up before me - could some of these images in indexB.html be stock photos? Free images available anywhere on the net? Keyword searches for "stock images city sunrise" brought up some very interesting results.

I must have it in my bare hands - Could this mean that the photos are freely available in a magazine?

Anyhoo, just thought I would through that into the mix, not sure if it'll help or hinder.

Thoughts?

I dunno if this has been pointed out before, but in 0595630738.cache in the errorlog dir it states that "milestone 24 (Project Syzygy) has been completed". In other files in the errorlog dir it refers to a "gatehouse 24". Possibly this "milestone 24" was what was causing the irregularities at gatehouse 24.

Hi. First time I post, but I've been reading this Syzygy forum since a couple of month. I've also remotely followed The Beast and ILB, and I will try participate more actively in this one (although I've heard that ARG + trying to complete a master degree = uh oh....) Smile

Ok, let's see. I think we overlooked a thing that's been up for a couple of days... the image file psyzygynomore2.jpg from http://www.projectsyzygy.com/

All the things on that image have something in common : travel. A passport, something that looks like an airport, a map, a stamp with the word "IMMIGRATION" and another stamp (or is it the same one?) with a word that seems to be "ATATU" ... and then letters that look like "T.C"

When you google ATATU, you get to know that it is a New Zealand peninsula.

I don't know if it could lead us somewhere, but I thought I'd share with you... I don't think the picture on http://www.projectsyzygy.com/ was made randomly, and I've seen no discussion on it yet.

Edit: Embedded long URL. -SpaceBass

There may be something to that New Zealand theory. Back when the project was discovered and the computer with the Steve Jobs braille pic was floating around, a closer look showed a luggage tag which showed flights from London Heathrowe and also a trip to Australia.

Now I just wish I could think of some way to link it all together. Confused

I think this is just to get you to print the page. If you look at the source, there are different style sheets for viewing and printing. When you view the image on screen, you simply get the riddle. When you print it, you get the spacer.gif which reveals the errorlog directory.

I really did look before I decided to post this, so please forgive if I've copied something someone mentioned somewhere else. Upthread someone posted a link to a disturbing image at perplexity.net -- but when I went through to have a look, the image didn't match the description. (It's not of a person anymore)

Did it change?

Well, I just checked and it's the same image as I saw before. That being a person's arm etc.

Okay, that's really weird. When I go to that same address, I see a blue swirly image on a black background. That's it. No arm.

Unfortunately, I'm somewhat hampered in that I can't figure out how to view the source -- my web browser is in Japanese and I can't read it. (Long work related story) But I've got the blue swirly image saved, anyway. It's entitled 'jimbo2.jpg'.

(Couldn't be a reference to the James in the Gatehouse 24 logs, could it?) I wonder why I'm seeing a totally different page than you are at that same address?

Poked around a little bit and the only thing I found was the image (jimbo2.jpg) is in an images directory all by its lonesome.

I don't know, that's very weird. We have the black background but a completely different pic.

I can't think of any reasons why you'd be getting a different image. Are you using IE?

1. for me the image on http://www.perplexity.net/ also changed. yesterday was the razorblade pic (yuck!), today it's this pic:
http://www.perplexity.net/images/jimbo2.jpg
edit2: i took the pic out and posted a link, due to the disturbing nature of the razorblade pic....

the source of that file looks like this:
<html>
<body bgcolor="black">
<img src="images/jimbo2.jpg">
</body>
</html>

edit: i am using firefox Smile

2. "taversen" is definitely not a german word (i am from germany). as you probably know, googling it brings up a certain kind of backpack, like this: http://www.1shop2.com/outdoor_sports/Marmot-Mountain-Taverse-Pack.html
