I dont see it as mean. I see it as playful. Than again, I've been called an evil bastard on more than one (thousand) occasions.

Old Town..London

Just thinking about London, and "Old Town", and did a quick search, and found a number of roads called "Old Town"

One of these has a road close by called Cubitt Terrace (probably a coincidence)

But I'm wondering...perhaps there's a shoemaker/cobbler on one of these roads?
(I've been looking via www.yell.co.uk to no avail, but thought I'd share the idea)

I think there is a reason that this was not posted on our boards. I would say that it's probably more misdirection then clue. Wink

Yeah, I thought it might be a bit of a stretch, AnthraX101.

I guess I won't try to create a new topic with the subject:
"Civilisation and Late Stage Urbanisation, A Phase 2 Consumer Transition"
to see if it gets any interesting replies then Wink

Hey Admins!

How about a central area where people can post things that are of dubious relation to the game? You could create a main forum category called "Uncertain" where people can fling their wild theories about websites that most likely have no relation to the game.

I mean, nobody is even certain if it has properly started yet or not and we're already having to wade through stuff that is obviously not related to the game. If a thread starts in Uncertain and then turns out to be part of the main game, it can easily be moved or renamed to something appropriate.

Just a thought...

I must say that as this stage there seems to be way to much usless information being posted. Many people will tell you spec is a valuable part of the game, which is true.

However we need to find a balance between taking initiative and letting the game direct us in what we should do.

I believe so far the game has rewarded diligence and throughness, not random guessing.

As far as managing this, I think people need to [tag] their threads with [spec] if its not certain. Possibly, if the post is way to out-of- game the moderators should re-tag it as such and/or lock the thread

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by how much crap is already being posted, if you can, login to the chat room. It's a great place to talk about all the spec it lets you talk through your theories, and then if you think it's valuable you can post it.

The other thing would be to minimise 'chatter' on the boards, but when everyone's excited they all like to add there $0.02

Yeah, I'm also feeling overwhelmed, hence the post Wink
The tags work, but it still means looking for tags in the subject line or topic headings. A primary SPEC forum would allow for people to place all their speculations in one place divided by topics. Whatever method is used, I suppose the important thing is that ppl start following it.

also, the wiki at http://www.incognitus.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page has a "current speculations" and "current puzzles" section. that might also be helpful to have a current listing of what thoughts are creeping through our heads without having to read lots in the forums....

i don't think that that post was in game as well, i mean, if someone w/ the game was gonna post on a board, they'd do it on this one, since the firebox link was to this board, not that one.

Actually, the unfiction rules prevent anyone in-game posting here. The idea of these forums is that they are out of game and a place we can discuss what we want without fear of "characters" hearing of it.
