first time posting, blahblahblah, but i saw this and had to comment..

first, i'm not sure the timeline fits with Kamal sister being a Spartan II.. she might be a Spartan III. In the Fall of Reach when the Spartan II's graduated, Chief Mendez was saying about training the next batch of Spartans... (although we never see anythign about them)

also, how sure are we that the other Spartan IIs are dead? They are extremely resourceful, and they could've found a Pelican dropship to make it off planet.
Listen to the latest Rani clip, she said herself there were a "surprising amount of survivors" from Reach. Who's to say the Spartan IIs didn't make it out too? If anyone was to survive, I'd imagine it'd be them.

Then there's James.. the one who lost his hand to a Hunter in the Fall of Reach, and his maneuvering thrusters were hit when he and Linda and John went after the Circumference. Just because a cursory scan from the Piller of Autumn didnt' find him, didnt' mean he wasn't safe. He could've been picked up by another ship, or just out of sensor range, or taken for debris.
There are thousands of reasons why James could still be alive.

maybe its just wishful thinking, maybe not. The only other reason i bring it up, is because as i read the Flood, I'm seeing WAY too many reminders and other stuff bringing up that John-117 is the last Spartan. Its like the author is trying to pound it into you, so when/if its ever revealed that John isn't the last, and the others survived, it'll be a huge shock.

Anyway, this is just how i've interpreted some of the data. Any thoughts?

I won't give anything away, but you really need to read the next book, First Strike, it'll answer your questions.

Even as hard as last week was, I have enjoyed the Kamal arc best. wow. I was left speechless. Without spoiling anything, at least it seems there seems to be some bonding going on. Wink
