to be more clear: it has to be the axon (payphone) right?

I'm thinking it can be any payphone, which I think is backed up by the new text on recipe5.html:

Quote:
Visual proof of crew members mustering at ANY axon ANYWHERE and displaying their skills must be sent through the Killer's comm channel.

I've sent an e-mail off with the picture of 5 London Axonators standing in front of a payphone:

I'm hoping that'll fill up 5 of the Rank & File spots, and I'm also hoping it'll get me a rank of Gunnery Sgt!

Remember to get relevant information to the axon information distributors in the Axon Coordination forum! Can the players moderate themselves and focus the discussion of the pics to just one or two places?

As far as I know, it doesn't have to be the payphone in the picture. It can be any phone, as long as it has the number of the phone in it.

If it weren't raining, and I could get someone else at my axon, I'd try break dancing in front of the phone--that might count as "Band and Entertainment"... unfortunately, I don't think that'll happen today.

You don't need the number in the pic. That is only if you are trying to get a new axon added. For the task at hand, just a photo of your doing something near any telephone.

To answer a live axon/send Mel your photo for the Seeking axons:
You must be performing your task with the phone in view.

To SUBMIT a NEW axon to Mel:
You must have a pic of the number on the phone so the PM's know you're not giving them some house's phone number to prank call. Get up close and have plenty of megapixels in your photo... or you could get blurry results.

Just taken a picture. I'm gonna add in a phone number digitally on a blank piece of paper I had in the pic. I also have a red balloon in the back ground.

I'll edit when I've uploaded it from my camera via my laptop via my pen drive via my desktop to the internet.

EDIT1:Typos...

I won't slap you, I think you're confusing 2 things here. The number of the phone has to be in the picture if you're doing the thing explained on hives.html about getting a new Axon registered. The sending of pics that have to have a phone in them are all about getting the seeking files on recipe5 activated, and I'm pretty sure there has to be a payphone in the clip (unless your Axon is on a cellphone)

In other news, I've just been rejected Sad For informational purposes here's what I sent along with the picture above:

Quote:
Melissa,

As you have requested a visual record of your crew members, I am sending you a photo of the London Axonators (as we call ourselves). They are, from left to right: Me (Gunnery Sgt. Malrog), danhon, Adrian, Fi and Rogue Element.

Signing off,
Gunnery Sgt. Malrog

And the response I got was short and to the point (I think the PMs are getting flooded by e-mails!):

Quote:
Allegiance must be demonstrated in visual evidence!

Thus, I can draw the following conclusions, you have to be doing SOMETHING, but it can be at any payphone you like.

NB: There was a delay of 48 minutes between sending and receiving, so it can take a while!

- Malrog isn't gonna be a Gunnery Sgt. Sad

I got a live call!

Both of us in the GPAA were there, melissa had us take a picture of our special skills and e-mail it. Here's the pic we sent:

http://www.pitt.edu/~cmh42/haefele_deltinawildfire.jpg

And the text of the e-mail I sent with it:

Quote:
Melissa-

Crew submitting special skill set:

-books and axon data organized on paper for technical librarian Chad Haefele

-scope and radio for navigation officer DeltinaWildfire

This is in response to your request for this information at the 09:05 PDT axon earlier today.

Awaiting further orders.

-Technical Librarian 1st Class Chad Haefele

8 minutes later I got this response from the gmail account:
Quote:
Visual evidence extremely impressive.
Excellent work, Chad and DeltinaWildfire.

Make of it what you will, I think including what axon your picture references may be important.

She needs them to take pictures of themselves doing their tasks. Effectively, she wants to generate an image of her crew doing certain things (likely as part of today's lists of images) as part of their speciallties...

That would explain why she didn't accept this guy's photo evidence:

Is it just me, or does it seem strange for a "scuba" specialist to be on the Apocalypso's crew roster?

Ok. it's been an hour since i sent my pic and i havent gotten a rejection notice. I am crew and sent a pic of myself at home with a phone. in the email i specified my call time and let her know that because i was crew, this was my secure axon. I stated i was in communications and that's why i had the phone (in addition to it being my axon). After i sent it, the Nav&Com number went up.

In addition, vpisteve got an email from melissa stating that UNVERIFIED private numbers are a security risk and will not be accepted.

I'm guessing mine was accepted because i'm crew and the number is VERIFIED. Just thought i'd throw that out there. I'm guessing that's the only way you can submit with a home phone or cell pic.

self moderation required

I think we should be going here for most of this discussion. This thread is primarily for live call info. Discussion about how to & not get photos accepted are a related but different issue than live call intell.

Whoo-hoo! I got my live call today.

Eschewing all articles (see previous post), I answered "Covenant" and got the (okay, I'm going to use articles again) live sexy voice of Melissa.

She asked me my name, which I answered with the name of my favorite physicist: "James Joule" (wanted to keep "slacktron" in reserve in case of a nickname request), then asked me to spell it where I managed to outdo myself by remembering the International Radio Operators Alphabet.

I got some funny looks as I was rattling off "Juliet Alpha Mike Echo Sierra...", but what the hey. She asked my rank (Major), and she asked for my specialty (Answered "Science and Technology" instead of "Science and Medical", but she accepted it). She also took my number.

She then asked me if was alone. I answered "no", because a particularly vocal couple was using the phone next to mine, but I managed to assure her I could keep the conversation secure.

She then asked if I knew of any other crew in the area (another "no"), and then asked if I had attempted to recruit anyone.
"Sadly," I replied, "all my requests have fallen on deaf ears." Which is true, because my wife thinks I'm a crackpot every time I mention talking to an AI from 2552 on the payphone. Especially when I do it in front of dinner guests.

Moving right along, she said she had a mission for me. Next she asked if I brought a recording device and requested that I take a picture of myself performing my specialty at the payphone. Further, she requested that a enlist some passersby as crew to include in the picture and send it end before the end of the broadcast day.

She asked if I knew of the killer. "Dana." I responded. She said I should use her comm channel to submit my picture.

She noted that a crewmember from the Netherlands had done an outstanding job of submitting a picture, and requested that I do the same.

She also requested that I submit this picture to others, so check out the new picture thread for a good look at my ugly mug.

On the crew at last! And not a moment too soon. My wife is due to give birth to our daughter tomorrow. Lord knows that a new baby can certainly add complications to axon hunting. Now I can talk to my spooky AI friends from the comfort of my own home. My wife will be so pleased!

I GOT A LIVE ONE! ^_^

As soon as i answered "the Covenant",

Melissa said "good" right away, so i knew it was live.

She asked me my name/rank (FugitiveSoldier, Major (ODST) ).

She said she saw my photo, and liked it. Recognized as an "Orbital Drop Shock Trooper".

She then told me our MAIN MISSION now is to recruit "stranded crewmembers" for Rank & File postitions, by submitting a photo of them at ANY public payphone.

She wanted ME to send the emails with those I recruit.

She then asked about an experience i had in the ODST.

I told how on my first "drop into hell", it was very painful because i had equipment improperly fastened. I went on to tell how my CO took me in and trained me harder after that, and i eventually became a Major due to my skill.

She said "equipment safety is not something to be learned like that".

I replied "Right, you should know it beforehand."

M: "Absolutely".

She then asked what i knew of "the Killer". I said "at first Dana did in fact try to get rid of you, but now she's stopped. She's hiding; afraid."

M: "She's good to hide. I'm still thinking of eliminating her. Do you think she should be eliminated?"

FS: "It may be an option, but right now she's not a threat."

M: "If i did, how would i eliminate Dana?"

FS: "Hmm. If there were loyal crew in her area, maybe they could do the job".

M: "That would be an interesting task...(typing in background)...Maybe she could be an asset?"

FS: "She does have VERY strong communication links with us. She'd be a good way to get out info."

M: "I admire your train of thought."

FS: "Well thank you".

Melissa then told me AGAIN to hire Rank & File people, and told me i had until the end of the day to submit more photos of these other crewmembers. And that i shouldn't disappoint her.

((click))

EDIT: MELISSA ALSO SAID "There's a big reward for Biggest Crew"!
