I for one am now convinced of the SP=Yasmine SPEC, but despite all the evidence, remember that it is still SPEC. Just because it's very highly likely SPEC doesn't mean it's been *proven* the way that the Durga=Yasmine SPEC has. Refrain from enumerating barnyard fowl before it has reproduced, and all that. If *I* were a perverse PM, I would take a great delight in leading my audience down a garden path only to suddenly turn the tables on them. In fact, I would not be adverse to changing my original ideas to do so.

So keep your thinking caps on, SPEC away, and keep in mind the difference between evidence and proof.

Oh, and I'm still up in the air as to the PF.

Edit: Skyhawk, the phrase you're missing is "Aunt Gladys".

I think the whole Pious Flea = Covenant thing was a red herring, or rather a mass misinterpretation. This story, so far at least, isn't about the Covenant, it's about humans and humanity. I would be very surprised if the Flea did turn out to be a Covenant creation at the end of it all.

I concur, not Coventant. Probably a spy some spookmaster somewhere put in place to spy on his spys. Though something (possibly just sloppy programing) happened to corrupt some portion of the flea so that he's not exactly performing as intended.

Though I think it is also possible that the flea is a forerunner construct that came with the artifact. The flea seems to follow a very strict, if overly simplistic code or morals that, in a way, remind me of the caretaker in Halo.

But what about that mantra?

Sounds very Covenant.

I know it doesn't really change anything, but the style of the Flea just seems like Covenant to me.

Resonably adaptable. After all, it seemed to teach itself SPDR speak. The code it uses is NOT the way it originally.

It doesn't create anything on it's own. It co-opts the work of others.

It just seems to be stylistically very Covenant.

Doesn't prove anything, but I, for one, find myself in Covenant = Flea.

But think about it. We're trying to recombine Melissa with Durga and the Princess (yes? no?). We're encouraging her to do the exact same thing that the Flea is. Seek the truth about who she is. Behold it. Reveal it - to us, to Durga, to the Princess.

It's late, I'm sleepy, and I may just be thinking something goofy. But this is something I've noticed.

While waiting for our Friday update, I linked to recipe6, and got the Flea mantra down the page. I was bored, so I looked at the source to see how, if at all, it differs from casual source. It occurred to me that on the fourth line of Flea text, and only the fourth line, it says That is the law and the whole of the law. The entire rest of the page is either Seek, Behold, or Reveal the Truth.

Now, why would the fourth line be important?

I would probably have let it pass if it had been the seventh line, because we know about Bungie's penchant for 7's. But why 4? Anyone?

The fourth line is different because "That is the Law and the Whole of the Law" is the fourth and final line of the Flea's mantra. A better question would be the significance of this text repeating the three commands several dozen times after finishing the whole mantra once.
