[INTERACTION] Promoted :D

This after I sent in the pictures of the 61 new recruits...

Lt. MadCow,
This is most impressive work.
Your recruitment efforts are spectacular.
You have assembled an outstanding crew, and I trust you to train and
advise them wisely.
Your efforts, and the work of Team Boise, WILL be rewarded.

Notice the Lt. She promoted me. Very Happy
I sent an email asking if I was promoted.

Melissa,

Thank you for considering me a Lieutenant. During my mobile axon
coordination I ordered chinese food to the parking lot we were in from
our wireless internet connection. In my fortune cookie I recieved the
following message: "You will be selected for a promotion because of
your accomplishments." There was also a bee on it. Thank you!

Lt. Mad Cow

Sure enough!!! w00t!!!

Your work today is exactly the kind of effort and accomplishment that

That sounds like a very strange cookie, Lt. A primitive broadcasting device?

Also check this out.

I got this in my fortune cookie while sitting in a best western parking lot leeching internet from an open wifi connection coordinating the crew with Troy McClure. (We ordered delivery Chinese)

Congrations, Mad Cow. You deserve it. But the fortune cookie! Shocked Silly You, sir, are clearly a man with a destiny.

On a semi-related note, do we have any idea what system of rank we're using?

Man, either the universe is messing with you or the PMs have much more power than we ever thought. Cool

(Did you email the photo of the cookie message to her?)

The bee on that fortune cookie looks almost exactly like the bee on the Rainier Company logo......

Were you with any other crewmembers? I think they set you up.....

If you're asking about crewmember rankings, there would be two types. Navy, obviously, since we're talking about ships and Captains and whatnot, and then of course Marines, since that's who fights the Covies for the Navy and who the MC works for.

So, any ranking from either of those two branches of the military should do just fine.

Just don't try to be an Army Ranger, and I think you'll be ok.

I was wondering if, should it come to a situation where our ranks actually matter, how will we determine a who ranks where?

EDIT: Oh, never mind. Found a comparative rank chart. A Lieutenant Colonel in the Marines is equivalent to a Commander in the Navy.

Actually, the Master Chief is Navy.

Forget ranking each other - heck somebody out there called himself an Admiral, and someone else took Commodore, and Melissa let them, so they rank us all. Put aside the part about how such senior people are highly unlikely to be deployed on a ship with an intelligence mission. We talked a lot about ranks when Melissa started recruiting a few weeks ago and posted several sites to get information about which is which, but basically I think everyone wants to be an officer or the Master Chief. [Guilty as charged re the officer bit.]

So now we have a crew of about 60/40 Marine noncoms/officers (some guys are willing to take noncom roles if it means they can carry big guns); about 30/70 Navy noncoms/officers and a couple of random types, including civilian scientists and entertainers. I think we have an Army guy or two; don't know how they snuck in. Those 250 rank and file haven't shown up on the roster yet so we don't know where they will end up. So basically no one is cooking the food, swabbing the decks or maintaining the engines. Are we having fun yet?

I understand, and normally I wouldn't care, but the fact that Melissa promoted someone suggests the possibility that she has actually noticed which ranks people have picked.
