and the point is...

ok, an in-game article that warns players not to play the game?

Quote:
A mysterious call for help brings about a mysterious white website called nothing more than "Project Gateway". And what's this about keys? While this game is supported by the main ARG websites, we wish to warn you about this one in particular. As argn.com reports, "Beyond that, we really can't tell you much, beyond the fact that a certain amount of caution is advised, due to every ingame site so far being hosted on a free webserver of some kind. As always, proceed at your own risk." So InfoCyclone will go along with ARGN and warn you about getting into this particular game. For all we know, it could be one large prank by someone who has no life. And, also, the Project Gateway main site is down for reasons unknown. Is this the end of Project Gateway?

NOTE: for people who are going to play this game: just beneath the above quote is the following (visible if you just hit select all):

Quote:
Command Prompt:>>>>Variable "Faith" USER HenryShaw =0

EDIT: sorry I forgot to add that I did call last night and Henry again mentioned that "the other guy" never showed up. I think this is relevant to you guys.

Good luck. (the warnings, the bees and sente are enough to let me skip this one.)

Good eye Rose! I totally missed that when I read the article :-\
This seems to imply that Shaw is a user of PG and that CC32 just set his "faith" variable to false.

Remember L.Boomer's chat on 12-Oct
Quote:

pgcc32: Roberts: Understanding comes with time.
pgcc32: Roberts: Don't lose faith.
pgcc32: Roberts: A loss of faith means a loss of time.
pgcc32: Roberts: And a loss of time can affect all the elements.
pgcc32: Roberts: The elements are the key to salvation.... and destruction....
pgcc32: Roberts: Who's hands they lie in creates the outcome.
pgcc32: Roberts: Never lose faith.

I'm questioning whether Shaw's lack of faith will cost us time and thereby affect all of the elements.

On the subject of my call with him. I was a little hesatent just in case I was wrong, but I did get the impression that he was in game. (Which is now pretty much confermed.)

I didn't really get much out of him except that his partner was flaking on him and was really into ILB.

My impression of him was that he was
1. Kind of Geeky, like us.
2. A Night Owl, like us.
3. A bit scatterbrained... Like... Well... Like me. I don't know about the rest of you.

He seems to me to be the sort of character you're supposed to find charming or quaint, in a way that you can identify with...

Dramaticly speaking; This usually means that something terrible will happen and he'll be at the center of it. Very Happy

While I was talking to him there were problems with his phone which, he said, was only a couple of months old. It was buzzing just slightly when it would fade out and then back in. He said it started... Either last month or the month before.

Here's an email I just sent. I'm also planning on giving him a ring later today, more twords the evening since that's when they usually do updates.

I'll let you know what happens.

Quote:

Dear Mr. Shaw,

What a lovely article, thank you!

That's a very concise and to the point history of our favorite pastime. I think I'll point anybody who askes me what it's all about in the future to your article for an explanation. Smile

I got an IM from Rose just before your article went up saying that you were almost finished. She also mentioned that you said your partner had never shown up. Was this the one who was into ilovebees? ...Or was that your brother and I'm getting them mixed up? (I do that sometimes.)

Though I do recall you saying that your partner wasn't around on the evening that we spoke. Have you spoken to him in the intervening time? It's so rude not to let people know if you're not going to be somewhere they need you to be.

Why just the other day, I missed rendezvousing with somebody rather important because I was at a wedding. Even though I hadn't gotten the message that I needed to hook up with this person, I still feel just terrible about it. Because now I can't get in touch with them to apologise...

So I hope your partner is A) Alright and B) Feels at least as half as badly as I do about flaking on you. Very Happy

You should check the ILB 404 page and see if your partner's picture is there, then you'd have an idea of what he's up to... Wink

I myself am on the "Elete Forces" page (I'm the one with the camera). I showed the picture to a non-ARG'ing co-worker and he said, "WoW! What a great picture of you!" ... Of course, you can't see my face because it's obscured by the camera, but I decided to take it as a complement anyway. Very Happy

I'm sorry I'm totally rambling on aren't I?

Back to the article... Very Happy

I've gotten some notes from fellow ARGers about your article. Generally, they all think the same as me, but there were a few confused souls who seemed to think that you were putting down Project Gateway, and they wanted me to express to you that they didn't appreciate it.

Perceptions are very important to us ARGers, our perceptions of the information that is presented to us is one of our greatest assets. So, we tend to get rather defencive when it comes to the perceptions that "outsiders" have of us.

In fact, you've rather inspired me to write an article about that very subject.

If you don't mind, I'd like to talk to you about what your impressions of ARGers, ARGs, and Project Gateway (since it was the only one you seemed to give a personal comment on).

Please let me know what would be a good time to give you a ring if you're interested.

Leo Boomer had a chat with Henry Shaw at IU.
http://www.forum.immersionunlimited.com/viewtopic.php?p=4387#4387

1. He is deffinately in game.
2. He lives near Pottsville and knows all about Section 32 and Section White
3. He knows about the Pottsville Mafia led by Bullettooth and his right hand man Dr. Tony Vaganok, but people just call him Tony the Wrench .

4. Tony is the creator of huge mafia robots, called the "untouchables" .
5. The guy that was supposed to do the interview was Colin the webmaster, and he has dissappeared and has not been seen since.

I'm going to guess that's OOG. If you do a search for "_vti_bin/_vti_aut/author.exe" on google you'll get a ton of hits. It seems to be some sort of Front Page file or something.

I just got a reply...

Quote:

Dear HitsHerMark,

Yes, I remember speaking to your before. Thank you for your kind comments
and criticism about my article on your past-time.

My webmaster, Colin, has now not been returning my phone calls since his
last update on our website. I am getting worried about him, because this is
very much not like him. He goes to college, you see, and we don't see each
other much anymore. We keep in contact though e-mail and phone calls, but,
as stated before, he hasn't called me back recently.

I'm having server problems as well. It seems that my website locked me out.
I'm not sure if this was his doing or not, but I need to know badly. At
least I can still get access to my e-mail accounts... That's always a good
thing. And no, I didn't see him on the ILB 404 page, so this is, once
again, not good.

My perceptions about Project Gateway have changed since my publication of my
article, as it is beginning to actually impact my life. As one of your
collagues, Leo Boomer, puts it: "You may be closer to Project Gateway than
you think, because we're getting word of what's happening in your city."
And with the logo of Project Gateway mysteriously appearing on my page every
once in a while, it's starting to give me the chills. Is this truly just a
game?

So quite possibly this isn't a joke, and quite possibly what I read at
argn.com about Project Gateway may be astray from the truth. But when
there's a conspiracy at hand, the Shaw Brothers are quite on it.

If you wish to converse, I'm usually available on weeknights from 9:00 PM
EST to about 11:00 PM EST. I'd enjoy having a conversation with you again.

Sincerely,
Henry Shaw

I also sent an email asking him about the logo on the website, and for some background info about him and his partners. Interesting info about Colin which could prove useful, if he turns out to be involved somehow in this.

Quote:

Sequoya,

Well, I'd be happy to help out anyway I can.

The logo thing is really starting to creep me out, and I noticed that someone wrote some programming below my comments about Project Gateway, which also has me creeped out. I went into the server to change it, but apparently I can't get in anymore. I don't have "Administrative Access", someone took it from me. Quite possibly it was my disappearing webmaster, but I'm not so sure since Project Gateway's reality was just revealed to me.

About myself and my brother? Well, we were both born and raised in Port Carbon, PA, a small townish village that's about half a mile away from the city limits of Pottsville. Because we don't have a high school here, we all go to Pottsville High School to recieve an education. I'm currently a senior there, and my brother is a junior.

We got into conspiracies after 9/11, and we found them to be very very intriguing to research and study. Since then, we've developed our own theories, and that's about where Colin comes in.

I met Colin when I worked on the school newspaper, Tide Lines. I ended up joining the online newspaper staff to learn more about making websites, and Colin was one of the editors that year. Since then he became editor-in-chief of Tide Lines Online and I became his main staffer. Damn he was a wiz at computing, especially with online stuff. We worked together for a total of 3 years before he graduated and went to college.

He ended up purchasing a website, since he was also intrigued by my brother's and my own ideas, and we dubbed the website InfoCyclone and just opened it about 2 months ago. Colin vowed to do some articles (which he did write one) and help us do the tech stuff for the website. Of course he goes missing right as our website begins to have technical problems.

I'm getting worried about him. It's not like him to be out of contact this long. I understand that he has his own business to attend to while in college, but this is getting out of hand. How hard is it to call someone back in 2 weeks?

Anyway, that's my personal thoughts on the subject. Does that help any?

Sincerely,
Henry Shaw

You know, it didn't occur to me to ask about the missing partner's tech skills until this morning...

And now I don't have to! Smile

A jorb well done!
