too much time on my hands? or do I just hate my job... <shrug>
here's a visual decryption key by symbol rather than alphabet that I just put together...
EDIT: the first D was supposed to be a U - the image has been updated
EDIT #2: I've copied the image to an external easy to access link that I'll update whenever new data comes in...

Nice work theBruce, but looks like you forgot the letter 'u'.
The 'd' by the 'e' should actually be a 'u'. So you didn't forget it, just mislabeled.

Just some tid bits I did not see anyone commenting on.
Halo2.com is up to be completely renovated at midnight tonight.
Also, as a multimedia artist I know that there is not a hidden image in the two wavy images. They are created by taking the orignal picture and putting through the photoshop Distort>Wave filter, one set to sine and the other to square. I am familiar with the results of these and am 100% sure of this.
Thus, I doubt there are hidden images in them. The static however, could contain something in the two yellow spots.

Yeah, I went to the puzzles section and figured it out. I thought the "All Your Base Are Belong to Us" thing was a joke until I went there.

Well, since I first posted the spec on the contents of the last line, I'll answer. I was chatting with Wynn in IM when I saw the picture. I looked at the last line, noted a pair of the same character next to each other, as well as the end of the second pairing in that line. Being the current game, bees are on my mind, and it fit. I suggested it to Wynn in IM, and then followed it with a post here. He looked at it, said something to the effect that I might be right. I told him to solve it and then went back to working on my day job. He IM'd me a couple minutes later with the solution.
If it looks like a simple substitution and smells like a simple substitution, it's probably a simple substitution.

Nice work.
Although I think the C and H should be resized to be the same as the others. [/nitpick]

Well probably unavoidable that a puzzle cropping up on the halo2.com site would lead to puzzle solving here, and of course this one went so fast everyone has been posting after the fact, but just a reminder that true puzzles, once identified, can have their own thread in the Puzzles forum where people who like puzzles can find them without wading through all the other chatter in the General forum. That concludes this public service announcement.
