[SPEC] The artifact and James James

I have another idea about the killing of James James.

James James and Jan were in a car and picked up McKasskill. He needed to be driven to Baltimore in "off-line" mode.

Even before they left, McKasskill mentioned enough information to let them know he had been in black ops and he mentioned the Operator. We get that from Durga's recording so that much of the conversation between them was "on-line."

A government person wanting to conceal the artifact would be concerned if he found a person like James being in contact with McKasskill and would be concerned that McKasskill would tell James what he knew.

So here is my thought:

1. Someone involved with the government cover-up of the artifact helped set-up Jan so her father would come and get her. Thin could not have done this alone.

2. Because Melissa blocks Durga from hearing any waves that relate to the artifact, Durga either didn't record, or doesn't remember recording, anything relating to Jan's capture.

3.When Durga returns to Jan, she finds that her father is dead and Jan is being tortured. This is when she sends Gillie and turns off the perimeter alarms. I think that the missing bits of this story may well relate to the artifact somehow.

4. The government must use people like Thin as part of their black ops. They need people willing to kidnap children and do other things -- so why not this as well.

5. It is possible the Gladys is Thin's boss but she is still working for the government. I haven't made up my mind about this.

The SPEC has great merit and certainly would tie up the holes from the missing parts of that story... my question then is:
Why would they seem to make a bigger fuss over someone who was uninvolved with the artifact (a taxi driver with a past) as opposed to going after McKaskill? I know that it is very possible they did go after him as well and we just do not know it yet, but anywhoooo, I look forward to seeing how this pans out and if you are correct. Very Happy

Is it me, or were Jē and Jan particularly bad at being "Black" when karting McKaskill around in the "Black Taxi"?

After all, if Durga could record his conversations (In her sleep or otherwise) using Jē or Jan's Chatter (Which was obviously live), or the Taxi's systems, what says that ONI (Or whoever else would be tracking McKaskill) doesn't have a "Smart" program or AI or even a person following McKaskill, as voice-prints would be easy to assemble and track. And as Chatters have GPS, they have his drop-off location dead easy.

And, of course, once he's been dropped off, the "following" agent can move to other Chatters in the area (If McKaskill's chatter is offline/missing anyways)

So if whomever is following McKaskill is skilled enough to require a Black Taxi for evasion, they'd be skilled enough to follow them through the chatter nets, too.

All [SPEC], mind.

and another idea

how about if Gladys had been married to Herzog, the divorced bureaucrat?

Perhaps her anger at him and the divorce helped to push her into Standish' s side of the whole ONI debate?
