regarding the failed activation of:

real_trusting
09:52 PDT
35.933484 -084.000398 (Knoxville, TN)

this is an axon that I submitted and was approved (obviously). i was at this phone yesterday at the appropriate time and it never rang. i found this incredibly odd considering i sent them the number, so i emailed Mel and told her that there was a failed communication attempt at those coordinates and verified the coordinates and phone number. to my surprise she sent me an email back, which said the following:

Broadcast transmission error.
Will continue to broadcast to this location in the future.
Broadcast # verified: 865 5849484
GPS verified: 35.933484 -84.000398



i took this to mean that i should attempt to go back today because there was some kind of problem yesterday. however, today it never rang either. this is doubly frustrating because none of us have yet successfully received a call here in knovxille, and because had it rang we could have activated 'real_trusting.wav'.

i noticed that someone else had some trouble with a non-ringing phone yesterday... are the PMs sleeping on the job? Whats going on? Thoughts?

 		tycho: interestingly the axon i attempted today that did not ring was for the same wav file...

I just sent Melissa an e-mail about it, good call on that idea.

Have any others who tried to answer "real_trusting" wavs confirm that they didn't get calls? Maybe there was a problem with this wav set.

In a way thats comforting... and in another way it completly sucks since I could make it out there yesterday and today but definitely can't tomorrow. I've come so close and yet....

 		My unsuccessful - but also unneeded after Tuesday - axon last week kept ringing until I finally got the answer accepted on Thursday. This week, same thing Tuesday, but the phone is no longer ringing. Confirmed same for Mike_Was (also dumped Tuesday morning).

I thought this was a good development - no stray phones that keep ringing all week when we don't need them - but if the axons for a LOCKED soundclip are not ringing either after Tuesday... (well as Tycho points out they didn't all lock up - two other soundclips did get unlocked Wednesday, so maybe his experience was a fluke).

given that explanation, one might suppose that the PMs got something messed up and instead of not calling already activated clips, they didn't call any. however, all the remaining clips except 'real_trusting.wav' were activated wednesday, so calls were made and received.

this also doesn't explain why the phone i was standing at didn't ring on tuesday either.

i've emailed Mel regarding her validation email to me of the phone number (see above) and the subsequent failure of the phone to ring but she has not replied. i get no love... Sad
