I think Durga won't go rampant. The SP will. She's older than the Queen, and I assume that because of that, she's older than Durga.

Then we help Melissa kill the SP or trap her or whatever, and the PF, the little double agent, helps the SP at first, then reveals her location to Melissa, Melissa traps/deletes her, and Durga feels the effects.

That's the beginning of the end, anyway.

I don't think we'll see any of the ILB characters in Halo 2. The ARG started awfully late in Halo 2's production cycle, and particularly the sound files which we know are being recorded as we play (i.e.: Kamal's payphone comment). So if you consider that Halo 2 went gold in September, it's unlikely that:

a)There was enough time once the story of the characters had been mapped out by the PMs for them to be included (with models, animation, dialogue, etc...) into the game.

or

b)Bungie created the characters first ahead of time for the game and told the PMs to use the characters for their story. (I would be very surprised if this was the case)

Ok, my turn. I'm not gonna touch the Melissa/SP/Durga thing. I'm still of the opinion that SP is Forerunner, Flea is Covvie, and Melissa is broken, just leaving Durga as the sane one (close enough). I also think Durga and Melissa are the same entity, just seperated in time.

OK, I guess I am going to touch the Melissa/SP/Durga thing.

Anyway, I think that Team Jersey is going to recruit the 1.0's and Jan to perform a commando raid on the refugee camp, to free Sophie so she can be with Kamal. They will then all work together to take Rani off the grid and get her out of Chawla, possibly with the artifact (but I don't really think so). When the timer counts down, no explosion, just Melissa (along with the Flea and SP) gets catapulted back to the future, thus ending our little radio drama. The story would then be continued through cutscenes and such in Halo 2. Ultimately Kamal gets citizenship cause he's a doctor, and marries Sophie. I also envision Jersey and Jan getting together and Durga returning to military service.

I'm of the opinion that they are recorded weekly. But I also think that the PM's could have mapped outhte ending during the production of Halo 2. They could have put the characters into the game knowing how they were going to end the story.

When it's over, Melissa (through the inteference of the Pious Flea) will find a way to transmit into the future, to both Earth and the approaching Covenant fleet. However, rather than transmitting a warning of the things to come, she accidentally transmits a repeat episode of the Upright Citizen's Brigade. And through the revelation that one can do anything through the hole in the sheet, the whole battle is avoided, the Covenant go home, and all Earth citizens live happily ever after...

My SPEC on endgame:

• Durga/SP/Melissa go fully rampant and are put down/destroyed (I'll leave how out of my spec. Source: hives.html suggests that we will have to operate without instructions from Melissa later in the game)
  
• Kamal will meet Durga before the end. (my personal opinion, Jan and Durga meet after all.)
  
• All "main characters" (e.g., Sophie might be a "supporting character" and be left out of the story going forward) end up in Boston and attempt to "save the world" from the artifact and Standish. (Source: Recipe6 WAVs show Kamal heading east, and Jersey is planning to "save the world" and Jan James is now firmly linked with Jersey. Lastly Rani is an inside agent within (presumably) ONI, and will be roped in to assist the mission by Durga before end of game.)
  
• Boston will be glassed in Halo2, we will not see any of the ILB characters in Halo2. (Source: They're after what's in New Mombasa, not what's in Boston. An, following the story of the novels, when the Covenant glassed Reach, they left Castle base unglassed so that they could retrieve the Forerunner artifact. They will do the same to Earth, barring whatever the Master Chief can do to prevent it in Halo 2.)
  
• Two possibilities: Either we will be left to wonder whether the main characters in ILB survive the initial Covenant Assault (i.e., the ILB story stops just before the assault begins) - or we will hear the beginning of the assault, almost definitely with a sudden ending to the story resulting from a detonation that interrupts all chatter coms. (Originally I would have spec'd the former, but someone else already spec'd the latter scenario and I think that is very plausable. ILB has not shrunk from the sensational, specifically the torture of the girlfriend early on in the story, later the faceholing of said boyfriend by the cop, then the torture of people by Jan and eventually Jan being tortured by Thin, Thin murdering Jan's dad and Gilly zeroing Thin this last week.)
  
• PF will be shown to be Covenant (my personal opinion, much spec has been offered to this effect.) and will !attach Princess (I personally think this is what ends up killing Durga/SP/Melissa; or at least corrupting beyond recognition)
  
• The Artifact: I offer no spec at present. Unless the recipe6 weeks can be interpreted to mean that the initial chatter net crash was the result of "activating" the artifact, I don't think it is a bomb. However, if "activating" the artifact did cause the chatter net crash (in contradiction to the original set of Herzog WAVs where they said they thought it was the Apocalypso crashing out of slipspace), then it is a bomb. Like I said, I offer no spec at present, insufficient solid evidence to speculate. Wild spec, yes, spec, no.
  

I SPEC that no characters from ILB will appear in Halo2.

I have two SPEC's...

1. Halo2 will be revealed as one large escort mission, as MC takes Kamal back to Berkeley thought Covenant invaded battlegrounds...

...or...

2. Halo2 ends with a cliffhanger that sets up Halo3, which takes place during our time. Cortana made a comment in FS that with the Covie ship they hjiacked, Earth finally had a chance if they just had more time. ILB gives them five hundred years.
