Let flow the flood over innocent blood
Bigness of his littleness - my ultraomnipotence!
For we are also mighty!
Freed, unbound - now lost, not found -
We once again am blind, you see?
God, please help me!!!

e.e. cummings

There's the shreds of an e.e. cummings poem in there ("pity this busy monster, manunkind") -- the word "ultraomnipotence" and the phrase "bigness of his littleness". I assume the puzzle itself is of the "assemble the two-letter fragments into four-letter words" variety, but I have no idea what cummings' relationship is. (Except manunkind -> mankind, the filename?)

The sun looks like it might be a block of digraphs, suggesting encryption of some sort...

Interesting..

Is it

A PlayFair Cipher

The highlighted letters may somehow be hinting at the keyword

rut
nedi

ihimac
ea
r
gainm
o

and 'me' in red

I think this line could also be significant...

"We once again am blind, you see?"

It should be 'I' am blind, or we 'are' blind.

The text is arranged in an iris, so could this be an 'eye' and not just a sun? An 'eye of god'?

Well, thinking about mythology... Virgil comes to mind, as the typically blind prophet.

Though, eye and god... along with a sun... that is a reference to Ra... The ancient egyptian god.

In my research on the planets picture, I came across some info here that might be of use. In particular:

The eclipse is the 'opening of the eye' - the Eye of Ra - solar energies - The eye is a metaphor for the source of creational light.

Don't forget to hold down that mouse button when looking at the page:

The original "poem" is reversed and the last line is now the first line, but the special letters are still highlighted. And there are red lines in the "fill in the blank" words.

They're showing that the letter pairs combine into a sentence.

Except not all the blanks are paired (but the odd numbers are back to back and may represent a continuation). And when do we see YP and YC? Unless Y is the end of one word and the P or C starts the next word.
That must be it.

16 letter pairs in the Sun are red, but only 10 spots in the blank words are red. There are 23 purple letters in the poem. There are 122 blanks spaces in the blank words. There are 68 letter pairs (136 individual letters) in the Sun. Sigh. Is it simple and we are overlooking the obvious?

We can start trying to fill in blanks. I think it is a list of names, not a sentence (not enough small words). Maybe different names from mythology relating to blindness?

H OR US

C YC LO PS

- - - - OF TH E S UN ???

Hmm, we may be on to something (and it isn't my day job).
