OT Press Interviews

Robogriff and I just got off the phone with Noah Shachtman of the New York Times. He, also, is doing an artical on ILB for the Times. He contacted me through the email account I'm using for the game.

First things first: Mr. Shactman would really like to interview the guy that answered the phone in a hurricane in Florida (from the Wired article). If you are that guy or know who he is, please connect him to me. I'd post Mr. Schactman's email and phone, but I forgot to ask him if I could.

Mr Schactman was interested in how I got involved in the game, how much time I spent on it (couldn't tell 'em; I'm at work Wink ), and what I had done in the game (the videos, puzzles, phone calls). He was pretty keen on the controversy over Lt. Weephun. Robogriff explained how the puzzles appear, get solved, and lead to audio clues on the ILB site. I promised to forward links to the videos we made, and anything else I could think of.

'Twas bugbbq. His original post is here. (Since I apparently blew my chance to speak with Mr. Shactman myself, this is the least I can do. Mr. Green )

Thanks! I had a hunch it was bugbbq, so I passed his profile along to Mr. Schactman already. Good to know I won't have to correct myself on this one. I have heard nothing from bugbbq or Mr. Schactman, so I have no idea whether they connected.

Thanks guys. I've been trying to get in contact with the guy, but he keeps blowing me off on times that we both schedule.

He seems interested in contacting me, but doesn't seem to want to put in his part to do so Sad

No worries. It's the New York Times. If he can't get in touch with you, he'll probably just make something up.

It'll say, "New York Times: Screwing Up ILB on a National Scale," followed by a dead bee.

Yah, I think I was the first one to talk with this guy Tuesday morning. He seemed really interested in how I'd gotten into the game and wanted to talk to all the others that I'd convinced to help out (Pizza hut staff, Doubletree Hotel staff, etc.). I also pointed him towards hmrpita and vpisteve.

He was completely clueless about everything ilovebees related when I talked to him, though after hearing from others he has interviewed it seems like he is trying to get caught up.

Here's hoping for the best.

Now I don't feel so bad - I thought I missed two opportunities, but clearly he's blown off several of us. gk and robo, you may be his entire source for the article.
