I was just going to say something similar...

If there is a limit, and with one clan we reach it... we could always have 2 clans that are part of a larger organization.

maybe we could have one clan for those who focus on the forums...

and one for the IRC crowd?

or maybe just whichever one has the name you like best...

let us all come together in harmony and online violence.

It seems to me that multiple clans are probably the best way to go (whether it be based on real world geography, internet geography (b.net, unfiction, etc.), in-game allegiance (Apocalypso, Sleeping Princess, Dana?, etc.), or some other criteria). There are a LOT of people playing ILB and I think that a clan that's too large will just get unwieldy. After all, Halo 2 games are restricted to 16 people at a time, and that probably usually means 8 people from a given clan.

Just to throw a monkeywrench in the works, I'll point out that in Halo 2 you can only be a member of one clan at a time. I'm not sure how that will affect various people's choices, but I'm sure it will. For instance, while I really like ILB and the people I've met here, I came here through prior connections to Halo and the Halo Community. I'm pretty sure that I will join a clan based on those prior relationships. Of course, that doesn't mean that I won't play with you guys (there's LOTS of non-clan based gameplay on XBL), and it might even mean that the ILB crew(s) could form a nice set of rivals.

For what it's worth, my Gamertag is "Septimus" - feel free to send me a friend invite. I'll accept it, if I have any clue who you are.

I think we should just do it on a first come first serve basis. The first 100 who post their gamertags in this thread should be in Brain Ninjas, if that's the name we decide on. The rest will join the second clan. Then, after we've done that, we should see how many are in the second clan, and move people from the first clan to the second to even them out.

They'll both be for us, and if both clans have equal numbers, then there shouldn't be much of a problem.

My Gamertag is SurplusShitzhu
It's a generated name by the xbox cause I was really psyched to get hooked in. Now I'm not seeing a way to change the gamertag...Is it possible? Not that a surplus in Shitzhu's are bad, but I feel like I now need a name that fits my personality more.

Anyhoo, I've been a fan of ILB since June. Checked on the site and these boards religiously(even though I've only been registered since late September). I respect a lot of people who post here and would love to play this fantastic game with you.

Incitatus, I'm sorry, but the chance of merging is almost 0. Other people had ideas for Halo 2 clans, and you probably should have consulted people before just saying "HAY GUYZ HALO 2 ILB CLAN OVER HERE!." See, if you had asked everyone in both chat and forums whether we wanted to make a clan, I'm sure we could have worked it out, but you just kinda did it on the spot so now not much people have a choice.

Anyway, whoever wants to join SPDR Ninjas is perfectly fine to do so, and if I know you well you might get admin status. Smile

As a lurker here for a good month before posting, I have to say I would probably feel much more comfortable playing with a lot of the people here rather than a group where I know one out of every 20 people. (I is shy Embarassed )

I have nothing against Incitatus or the clan he created at all, I just think if clans only hold 100 and they are at 90 already a.) there won't be a place for me by the time I get Live and B.) having a huge clan might get a bit hard to manage.

I wish I had Live right now, I would sign up right now. Hmm, is there any way to keep my spot until I get Live? Unless it doesn't matter and everyone decides the Beekeepers is the clan to go with... Then this post is for nothing. Wink

Sorry, but there's no way to change your Gamertag, short of buying a new XBOX Live kit and installing that.

Also, for whoever is collecting these things, my GT is devolver. Go figure.

I'm all for joining a clan of people I know from the chat and here instead of a bunch of randoms. I like the name Brain Ninjas, and my gamertag is LilPrincess. Smile

Look me up.

I've already called out of work on nov 9th.

Now i can't decide whether it's really lame or not that i've taken more "sick" days for the ilb/haloverse then i have actually been sick.

My gamertag is Lakhesis. I apparently forgot to post it in my last post in the thread.

I agree with the multiple ILB clans suggestion - only 100 players can fit into one Halo 2 clan, anyway. Geographical location would be nice (by state? ILB-Illinois?), though we could actually use references from the ARG as names and then just list the geographic location on the Seve7h Column site.

I've been in an XBL clan for almost two years in Ghost Recon. In that game you can play 6 players on a side. The largest successful clan I've seen had about 20 active players. Are you sure a clan with 100 members is even viable? If you set up a match against another clan, how would you decide who gets to play? How would the clan be organized? What is the goal of the clan?

I'm just asking to bring up the issues. This clan may work very differently than I expect it to and I'd like to see a discussion about it.

BTW, my GT is Smooth Jack.

Question on gamertags:

I don't have XBL yet, but here's a hypothetical question.

My gamertag is, oh, let's say 'homeworlder'

When I play Halo/Halo2/any other Xbox game, my account for that game is named Starblade. For example, I have a file on Halo named Starblade.

When I play online, will people see my gamertag, or my account name? And what is the gamertag for? Just to identify the xbox, so there isn't any duplicate accounts? Or is it so when using a headphone to speak to other players, the game will know who you're talking to (if it USES the gamertag for that, anyway)?

Could someone clarify all about the gamertag and XBL for me, before I install it?

The Gamertag is really an Account Name, more than anything else. You, inmost games, can play using a profile with a different name than your Gamertag, and that will be what you appear as in-game. However, statistics are kept according to the Gamertag, and, it's probably EASIEST, for you and for everyone else who might want to keep track of who you are, if you play using a profile whose name is the same as your Gamertag.

Did that make sense?

(Gamertag) = (Account Name - the same for ALL XBL games)
(In-Game Profile Name) not necessarily = (Gamertag) though it makes things easier.

If we are settled on a two clan system, we need to have some sort of plan to make sure things don't turn sour. We're ALL Beekeepers, regardless of whether you happen to post more at these forums, or Bungie.net, or whatever. I don't think anybody wants to have a bitter split over clan names or anything. So anyways, I have an Idea.

We have one clan, but with two (or more, if necessary) "factions".

We want to preserve a single community, but we will have to technically make two separate clans in the bungie.net system. I propose what we do is make a single group to serve as a hub for all the ILB based clans to congregate at. Probably the best group for this is the Beekeeper's group, since it has the most obvioius name. That group would not technically be a clan though, it is just a common area for all the separate factions to meet at.

I really like the idea of using the Beekeepers group for this, because Beekeepers is a great name for a centralhub of... well, the beekeepers!

Allright, and then, under that centralized hub, we would have two or more groups or factions that are the part that people actually join. One of these would be the SPDR Ninjas, which Crispy has already created. Then there could be one more. We would probably want all the factions to share some commonality, like maybe all the factions would have the same emblem, but with different color schemes. Just a thought.

So anyway, my plan is that "The Beekeepers" group not be a clan, but be a central hub that ties together several "faction" clans. That way we can hopefully avoid a big conflict.
