E-MAIL: Klepsydra

I sent this klepsydra today.....hopefully they fall for it Smile
Quote:

To the physicians working at Klepsydra,
I'm very sorry for my delay in reaching you, but I've just been informed that sometime last month, my brother was committed to your facility to recuperate after the loss of his family.
I won't beat around the bush. My brother and I have been estranged for a long time, and our relationship grew so bad at one point that I changed my name to avoid being associated with him.
But now, in light of his recent tragedy, I feel we should reconcile our differences, so that he can have some family support during this trying time.
Which brings us back to why I'm writing to you. I need some method of contacting my brother, whether by e-mail or phone, so that I can let him know that I'm on my way to see him. I'd also like to see some of the records involved in his committment, if possible.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter
Josh Strang

You didn't tell them "your" brother's name.

You also signed it "Strang".

If you are trying to get info on Dale, your last name would be "Sprague".

But it was a noble attempt. Chances are very strong that this line of inquiry would not have ended in any relavent information. I still spec that we are not suppose to get Dale out of the hospital at this time. We have been charged with a task, Chase the Wish, not Free Dale.

Good luck, "Josh".

There was an explanation as to why the last names were different in the email that Pickles sent Wink

i think this is just another example of people's creating in-game personas getting out of control. now we're creating dale's family members. where will it end? are we going to create an in-game persona of a second Wish to grant our in-game Dale's long-lost-brother his own wish?

i say we obey reason and common sense when playing with our identities and writing emails. this one, to me, is way over the line.

This is the reply I got today( oh and to reply to a post above, Dale Sprague was my subject line, which I forgot to post Smile
Quote:

Dear Mr. Strang,

I am very glad to hear from you! I've had so many people wanting information
about Dale, and I couldn't tell them anything because they weren't family
members. Granted, I've got no proof that you are family, either, but I need
help with treating him, so I'm going to go against my better judgment and
assume you are who you say you are.

We aren't set up for patients to have e-mail, and while patients can make
outgoing calls, we don't have individual lines in each room. I will, however,
let Dale know that you are concerned and that you will be coming to visit. I
feel he will benefit greatly from having a family member nearby.

Let me give you some background so you will know what to expect, and also some
reassurances about Dale's state of mind. In the process of evaluating and
assessing Dale, I've come to the conclusion that there's something going on
with him that I can't easily label or fit in to any of the classic psychiatric
models I've come to rely upon in my work. I've eliminated some of the
hypotheses presented by the early work-ups done by the doctors at Greatwater
General, in Aglaura, New Jersey. In his initial presentation there, a Dr. Anuj
Patel had thought perhaps he had a first-episode schizophrenic break brought on
by the recent tragic events in his life, but eventually diagnosed him with post-
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) (309.81) and a brief psychotic disorder with
marked stressor (298.Cool. There is absolutely no record or indications of
problems or disorder before the accident, which makes schizophrenia extremely
unlikely, so I agree with ruling that out, unless you've got some information
about his childhood and adolescent behavior that would contradict that. PTSD
seems much more likely under the circumstances, and Dale has exhibited some of
the generally recognized symptoms asociated with this disorder, although I'm
not certain of that diagnosis, either. Right now I'm leaning towards psychotic
depression (296.24) and comorbid PTSD, but I'm not absolutely convinced at this
point.

The bottom line is there are parts of this, things in Dale's thought processes
and reaction to the events in his life that don't fit any known pattern or
schema. And that's why I'm looking to you for assistance. Although it is highly
unusual, I think you might be able to help me in my treatment of Dale. There
is something very convincing about what he's been saying. I have seen
delusional patients on numerous occasions, and there's something different in
what Dale's saying and how he's saying it. The problem is it's so far out that
there's no way I can accept it without some sort of proof. I would like to
explore his specific delusion that he somehow inadvertently wished for the
death of his wife and daughter and that it subsequently happened. As a child,
was there anything he wished for that came true coincidentally, either good or
bad? Did he have any paranormal beliefs before all this happened that you know
about?

Sorry for the length of this, but Dale needs all the help he can get, and I
could use some assistance in helping him as well.

If you need a gofer, I live about 20 min away from where this facility is supposed to be. You can even use my phone # Smile

Nice job on getting that out of them. Kudos!

Great letter you should definitely keep this exchange going. Maybe with questions as to how you could best help Dale.

Greatwater possessions

Good work!

Maybe Dr Kendra would be able to claim Dale/Diana/Meaghan's possessions from Greatwater General if you passed her the info that there was a note with them...then we could find out what it said? I'm sure that she'd be able to get info from the hospital so that she was able to treat her patient and determine his state of mind better at the time of the accident...especially if she's accepting that you are a family member for the moment and she has your permission?

Thats a really good idea...I'll give it a go. I already mailed her once, to see if Dale could call me. If he does, I'll just ask him whats on the note lol

assuming characters

Well, now I'm confused. I chose to not portray myself as Dale's PMD so as to avoid creating myself as an in game character. When I said I wasn't (because I'm not), Kendra shut down.

And now I'm getting the distinct impression that anything goes, and I should've lied and said "Sure, I'm his doc! Known him for years!" and then I would've gotten data from her.

And, FWIW, I agreed initially with the other poster's opinion that to portray one of us as his brother would be over the line.

Now, I don't know WHAT the boundaries are... Rolling Eyes

i still hold that this is over the line, as i stated before, but if the PM is going to encourage it like this then i really don't know what to say. for me, it totally undermines any sense of reality in the game. if we can suddenly be dale's brother, i don't see anything stopping us from suddenly being another Wish and changing something else. where are the rules anymore? we might as well write an email saying "i live next to dale and he's at my house." there. *poof* he's free. frankly, i'm disappointed that this is the track the game is taking, but i'll stick with it until i see that this isn't just a ruse.

IMHO - We have been given this information because the PM felt it was time for us to get it (Dr. Kendra could have gone either way on the assumption of Pickles being a relative of Dale's).

Good job, Pickles.

It's not like I'm deluding a real person. The only info I've gotten is because the pm's wanted me to, and had this been over the line, I would have been shot down immediately.

I think that was a bit of a hint to try and pick at it because she wants to help but can't justify it otherwise. Maybe we aren't getting something we should have been by this time and we're getting a shove along the right lines?
