[UPDATE] Dana's Blog 10-22

Update on Dana's Blog.

Quote:
Natural Enemies
Have you heard the one about the cat, the dog, the old man and the thief? It's an ancient Chinese fairy tale.

A woman who runs a hostel in Shanghai told me the tale over tea one afternoon. I was bleary-eyed from staying up all night at an Internet café watching you guys chase axons. She picked out the strongest green tea on hand and, I guess, the strongest story she knew to go with it.

Four months ago, I didn't have any enemies. Now, I feel just like that dog.

*

Okay, so you know what the Operator has asked me to do.

You also know what she has threatened me with.

Please help me stop the Operator from hurting Aunt Margaret. She is real. Your "friend" the Sleeping Princess is not.

You might want to stop me. But I am not going to be stopped.

I can, however, be helped.
I need a way to neutralize the rogue process.

"be helped" is linked to danatwing@gmail , and "Neutralize the Rogue Process" appears on roll over.

edit: Here's a link to "Natural Enemies" A Chinese Tale

I assume she is referring to this myth:
http://www.darsie.net/talesofwonder/enemies.html

I guess Dana's behavior is to be expected. I mean, if you were in her shoes would you do the same thing?

Any suggestions? I am all SPEC'd out for the time being.

What a pretty moral dilemma. Do we help the human, or the AI who might be connected with saving billions of humans? A certain save of one life, or a possible save of the entire species at the cost of one life.

Hmm, Dana has been following our progress in this... so there is no way for us to trick her out. If we can't come up with something, she will probably figure something out on her own. I say we at least start to think of a plan on how to neutralize SP, even though I don't want to see it come to fruition. It will probably have something to do with the phone calls,

So it is at that time, when she is in the Queen's transmission system that she is probably unprotected by the seeker. I still don't like this, I think we should give it some time. But I know Melissa will be asking come Tuesday, hell, Dana might even make live calls then.

I've written an e-mail explaining that the issue is not simply black and white -- Dana needs to enlist the Princess' help in protecting her aunt.

Re: [UPDATE] Dana's Blog 10-22

That Chinese tale is extraordinarily depressing.

----

You know, Melissa was never in command of the Apocalypso or anything like that. If she wants to take on the Sleeping Princess, that's her business, "but wetwork requires approval, doesn't it?" Perhaps it's time for someone to pull rank on her. Any Captains, Admirals, etc. willing to try ordering her to leave Margaret alone?

('cos I still want to save everyone. Pretty pathetic, huh?)

It's still pretty important that we at least try to save everyone. As many spec has said before, when time travel comes up things get complex. We can't be sure if one of Margarets great great great great great great great grandkids don't end up being the masterchief. Wink

Of course that is SPECing that she even has kids down the road Mad .

We don't have any guarantee that Melissa won't just go after Dana and Aunt Margeret again, even after the SP is neutralized. Melissa is rampant -- she can't be trusted. Maybe we can convince Melissa to trust Durga, and that she is saving millions of lives by letting us send these transmissions to Durga?

Remember Dr. Halsey from the Halo novels? After years of making the same calculation - sacrifice one human live to save millions more - she couldn't justify it any longer. She decided to save the human race - one life at a time. We've got to save Dana and her Aunt... and then see what we can do to save the rest.

Hell, right now the SP is more real to me than Dana. Haloverse needs a Mann Act II.

Yup, no-one's spoken to Dana or her Aunt, the SP has called people up and interracted with them. No way we can willingly help Dana take our friend out. Dana and Margaret are at this point in time, irrelevant to the game pretty much. We must not let the SP be taken down.

Why does Dana assume that if she does help capture the SP, Melissa won't go ahead and kill Margaret?

It seems to me like Melissa won't stop messing with Dana until:

A. Margaret is somehow freed
B. Dana is dead (quite obviously no more hold over Dana)
C. Margaret is dead (no more hold over Dana)
D. Melissa is neutralized

Quite a problem. I wonder what the Flea will do to help the SP against this...

I don't think Melissa is going to kill an innocent simply to be malicious for the same reason I don't think shes going to disable all global communications and get her crew to assasinate Bush. It wouldn't just demoralize her crew and create more traitors, it would make her a target for the authorities and lead to her being shut down.

'Neutralizing' the Princess would not be a smart move. She is the only way we can fnd out what it happening in the Castle. We have evidence (and hopefully we more or less agree) that the Princess is Yasmine's suppressed personality from when she was originally made an AI (the Princess states that she was trapped in a glass cofin (suppression), she says she is older than Melissa (nine years old I think), and she says she has a brother (Kamal)). We also have evidence that the Flea is possibly a powerful entity (putting the SP inside Mel is a good example of this), and has a lot of power over Melissa. He realises that at least Melissa is part of Durga, so he is able to use Mel to send the wavs to Durga internally.

[SPEC] I think the crash of the Apocalypso separated Melissa and the Princess (getting out of the glass coffin), and Melissa has gone insane as a result of these two events along with possible rampancy. They both do not realise that they are in fact making up Durga in the future. Destroying one would destroy Durga, and therefore each other, probobly resulting in the destruction of the human race by the Covies. God knows how the Flea got there, but he too could be a part of Durga (another way that he could of sent the wavs). [/SPEC]

[PLAN] We should enlist the help of the Flea if we are to keep the Princess alive (or at least awake). I don't know what now how he could help, but he seems to know what he is doing, and particularly likes the Princess. We should email Dana with a false plan to actually save the Princess (but not harm Mel), and keep Durga intact. [/PLAN]

That's my opinion anyway.

We should just neutralize Dana:) The SP is the only ally we really have in the present, and frankly Dana and her aunt I just don't sympathize with them like I do the SP. Without the SP we would know nothing of Herzog, what has Dana done for us?

How does one join that SParmy? Smile
