Apocalypso Crew Roster

Hey, I haven't posted much, but I've been lurking since about phase 2, so I'm pretty sure I've been following. I finally made contact with Melissa via email last week and got my rank (by the way CSO Xstryker - I told her you were my commanding officer Wink ). I thought I could help out a little more though.

I've collected all the names and ranks from Melissa's crew listing and translated it into actual military ranks. I also had to purge a little, since some had been doubled up. Another curiosity - I noticed several people double listed with different ranks, yet obviously the same people. In these cases, I attempted to check the forums to see what they listed themselves as. In other cases, people didn't specify a rank, such as calling themselves Science Officer (as I am myself), yet in these cases I used the equivalent ranks for those positions.

I've got an Excel version, but no place to put it, so, for now, I stuck it up on the wiki here: http://qube.netninja.com/beewiki/ApocalypsoCrew

As I mention in there, if anyone has any questions, complains, or comments about why I ranked you somewhere, let me know - I'll either give you an explanation, fix it, or whatever.[/url]

Forgotten again....

You've got me in Rank and File, but you left me out of Nav & Comm, where Melissa spelled my name correctly but left out my rank.

Not that it actually matters, but it's Monday morning and I have nothing to do, so I thought I'd let you know.

Fixed - probably just deleted the wrong double off the list. I left people out of rank and file if they were else where (since technically everyone is rank and file).

Hey, I'm Vorian Atreides to Melissa. I chose Primero as a rank cause that's what Vorain Atreides was (is? wil be?) int he Dune series. Primero is their equivalent to Admiral, but I'm fine with Master Seargant. By the way, for those of you who don't read the new Dune books by Brian Herbert (Frank Herbert's son) Vorian Atreides was one of the Heroes of the Butlerian Jihad, the crusade that exterminated thinking machines and AI's from the universe. I couldn't resist the irony involved in being a crewmember with that name.

oh man, i chose Lance Corporal because we've already heard it mentioned in game and i thought it sounded really cool, like, it sounded higher than a regular corporal... oh well, at least i'm higher than a private

DNE

So can you tell me what "DNE" means in some of your comments? It's not really specified on the page.

Ahh - sorry - standard abbreviation for "Does Not Exist" used in mathematical proofs.

And yes, I actually am a physicist. Very Happy

I sorta guessed that, but I wasn't sure - I was only looking at the standards. I can always change it, but I think it makes more sense to have more of the "I'm not the guy running the military" ranks.

On Master Chef Jacoby, Master Chef was not a typo. He is also supposed to be in Rank and File.

Also, why do I have to be Rear Admiral? Commodore is sooooo much cooler. Razz

I stuck all the cooking staff in entertainment - Melissa stuck one there and I thought it seemed like a good place for them. As for the commodore thing - "technically" it's an outdated rank. I'm just trying to keep us with the time!

It was actually reintroduced into the UNSC in the 2453, after the Battle of THE MOON.

FYI: To quote myself in my submission letter to Melissa:

"Technically I'm Nav and Comm, but since I'm so isolated I've had to branch out to Mechanical and Engineering, too."

(yeah, I'm an attention hound.)

Though excellent list! Thanks bunches!

"The military rank of commodore is used in some navies for officers who command more than one ship, but are not senior enough to be made admirals." In the U.S. the equivalent of a commodore is rear admiral (lower half). Britain still uses commodore.
I got this information here.

Cool list, DemauSenae. Good job. I got a promotion! I chose corpsman because I know someone who was a corpsman in the Navy (and I am not really officer material). Wink

Hey, good effort. I understand the need to organize and state data in a managed style, so I dont think we should take the discrepancies too hard.
Fun little thing you did, thanks for putting it together.
