Secret message in project syzygy autoresponse email I just got my autoresponse email from project syzygy and instead of an L and an apostrophe in the word "we'll" there were japanese symbols that looked like this - 値l. But when I Copied And pasted them in microsoft word they pasted themselves as various an empty square and a 1. Also whenever I entered the Symbol in google to search it, when I pressed search it changed from the symbol To the numbers and symbols as follows-
& # 2 0 5 1 6 ;
There were no spaces when it appeared but if I post it without spaces then it turns back to the symbol.
I'm going tO try to do other stuff with the symbols but I will copy and paste the entire email that I Received in the space below. If anybody else has information about this please post. Or find more information about this by pasting these symbols into other search engines and other places on cyber space.
Hello
This is an autorespond to say thanks very much for your email and interest in PS.
As promised we値l be back in touch on the eve of the launch (early 2005) and we値l be able to go into much greater detail then.
Yours enigmatically,
The PS team

Secret message in project syzygy autoresponse email Hey same guy here,
Also when I went to paste the symbol in a "find in top window" window it came up simply as a question mark.

Secret message in project syzygy autoresponse email That's the original email I received from the Project syzygy team. I included it so that you could all see it for yourselves.

I'm not sure why it's there, but that is called a unicode symbol. It appears to be a japanese character of some sort. Acording to a dictionary I found:
Quote:
値 【あたい】 (adj-no,n,vs) (1) value; price; cost; worth; merit; (2) variable (computer programming); ED
That "variable" def is interesting, however I suspect this is a simple oversight.

Oh, I know - but the "what" was in reference to "early 2005" (the previous date was "late 2004"), which is why I was driven to tears (that was me).
My guess is that the encoding for ' and l merged somehow, resulting in this kanji (or, rather, in its unicode number - which is also why it doesn't display properly in some places, giving you question marks or boxes, etc.). In case I'm wrong, and it does mean something - the Hiragana Anthrax found is pronounced [atai].

Come on guys. No need to get all elevated about the delay. What's the saying, "All good things come to he who waits..."

Well, it's true this is very disappointing but there's not a lot we can do. Maybe there'll be some pre-game in Q4 this year.
As to the email, well I've had problems like this before with Japanese characters where they shouldn't be so I think we can ignore this one.

Sadly, I use Yahoo email which cleared it up in mine.
For what it's worth, I like using long headers, and the where from is interesting....

I wonder what sort of fun clue would be in the spoon.dreamhost.com. On the surface, an obvious Matrix reference (there is no spoon!), I wonder about the userID #.
65534 is interesting in computer format being decimal for the values we usually know in hexadecimal. A 16 bit number would be 65535. Hexiadecialwise, it would be $FFFE and binary would be %1111 1111 1111 1110

Tony, I don't think 65534 is a clue - in some linux distributions, it's fairly common to give user id 65534 to the user 'nobody' (see http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2002-Apr/2400.html ) and possibly also other services.

Ah. Thanks for the info, I should have asked a Linux wiz friend of mine. Ah well. seemed like a thought anyways at the time...
Can anyone please post up the message with the character spaces and undefined characters anbd their values? might be interesting to toy with it in here...

No, thank you for thinking of it, Tony! The more ideas people toss out, the more chance we have of noticing the ones that are significant.

Found 2 more from the main page; I posted up about the keyboard oj the website. The next one I am making a post, methinks is significant in some way rather than simply a bug.
