Either that, or these "Heretics" learn of some connection between the Forerunners and Humans, which would then make Humans sacred. But of course the hierarchs (prophets) probably feel invincible or stupid (that they've wiped out millions of Forerunner descendants) enough to continue the campaign.

Tick Tock....

Maybe this has already been said, but the last bit sounds a bit silly:

What have they to say now? Rated M for mature.

Maybe I am mad.

I dunno, it sent chills down my spine. But maybe that was the music.

I thought it was a fun little play on fans' angst that Halo 2 would_never_come.

So it's the same voice? I hadn't recognized it as such, but I'll listen for it again.

It was driving me buggy.

Warning: possible spoiler about the plot, but it is only from spec from the commercial! You have been warned!
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ok, in second 34 when you see the Halo blow up, it doesn't appear to blow up the same way as it does at the end of Halo 1. It looks to me as though it is being set off. This would cause the universe to be destroyed, basically, but what if MC found a way to deactivate the rest fo the Halos (from what I've heard is that there are 7, and they form a chain reaction to destroy everything). My theory, is that this one is close to the Covenent homeworld, and he is using it to destroy their planet, but somehow deactivated the rest so it wouldn't spread further than that one. This is all just theory, but to me at least it makes sense. Maybe that is what he means when he says "I need a weapon." Maybe another Halo is his weapon.

Ok, spoiler is over, now everyone read this:
I also loathe people who stole (yes, it is stealing) the French version. And then posting story spoilers that aren't simply spec.... This topic is about the commercial, not about people who stole the French version then ruined all it's secrets for the rest of us who are honest.
Edit: spelling changes

I disagree. I think its pretty obvious that something on the far side of the Halo is blowing up. Its not going to look the same, mainly because there's prolly not a Halcyon-class ship experiencing a wildcat destabilization on it. Odds are, we're seeing the known-before-the-leak Second Halo being toasted.

Seriously, people, why are you using spoiler tags for the trailer? its fair game.

Forgive me for asking a newbie question, but I never played Halo.

Why, exactly would anyone want to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
destroy the universe? I've read that it was to stop the Flood, but since whoever wants the Flood destoyed so badly presumably LIVES in the universe, it seems like there wouldn't be anybody around to enjoy the outcome.

Sorry if I'm a little behind on this, but I'd appreciate it if somebody could fill me in.

In the first Halo, Master Chief meets up with Guilty Spark, who takes him to the control center of Halo, and tries to convince him to enable it, however, Cortana pops up and basically says no.

What happens is, the flood is a parasitic virus, and to wipe them out, they basically wipe out there food source, US.

So they are not ridding the universe of the flood right off the bat, they are ridding the universe of the flood's food.

I guess it makes sense that it could just be an explosion like at the end of Halo 1. Now that I think about it more, it almost looks like a plasma grenade type explosion, which could mean a Covenent ship is blowing up. I don't know, it could easily be either way.

I get chills everytime I watch it. I've said this before, but how cool would it be to for Bungie make an animated movie using the same technique they use with their cut scenes? (Not re-telling the Halo 2 plotline, but extending the Haloverse much like the novels do.)

Also, I'm pretty sure Guilty Spark is a bit loony, because at one point he talks to MC as though he's someone else. Something like "you asked me before if I would make the same decision". That's why he *wants* to destroy every living sentient creature in the universe, or at least, that's why he believes it's an acceptable solution.

Does anyone remember what exactly he says there and/or post if there's more info from the books about what he meant by it? Feel free to trout me if it's a dumb question. I've been skipping past storyline scenes for a long time, so I don't remember a lot of details.

I have a really interesting link for you, but the formus are currently down on bungie.net. And since I can't check which is which, here are 3 links of some interesting SPEC by a big halo fan (not me).
After reading it, I think he's probably right on 1/3 to 1/2 of it. Hopefully we'll find out come the 9th!!

Let me know what you think once they work.

Sorry, another newbie quesiton.

Mr. Spark is an A.I., yes? So I assume he qualifies as "sentient", but does he qualify as "living"? Or does "living" only refer to biological creatures? Would he survive, or would he be killed too? If he'd've been killed along with everything else, what would the point be?

He'd survive. In Halo, he takes the index from Master Chief, saying that he has to carry it because MC is vulnerable to flood infection :)

Yeah, Guilty Spark has (apparently) survived ANOTHER, PREVIOUS use of the Halo system.

grrr... argh.

They don't work.

How do we know he survived a previous use of a Halo? Is that from the books?

For the newbie: It has to be a creature that is sentient and with sufficient body mass. You never, for instance, see a grunt or a jackal flood. What would a Hunter flood look like? Nah, maybe they just aren't sentient.

IMHO, the shot in the commercial with the halo looks more like it is being activated than being destroyed.
