We'd be silly to think that most of what we're hearing in these sound clips isn't part of the actual story line, or some kind of history.
That's a lot of really good voice acting to just be wasted on a ARG.
And yes, it sounds exactly like Durga

I saw the last i would guess 20 seconds of it, and I have to say it sounded shockingly like Durga. Maybe this is just collective wishful thinking but damn it sounds the same.

Well, you've got my agreement.
I first watched it and thought, 'hey, that sure doesn't sound like Cortana', then that night I listened to the axon wavs again, and then it clicked.

I'm telling you guys, The voices sound different, do a side by side comparision, one right after the other, and you'll see what I'm talking about. They are diffenetly similar, you might even say its close, but its not the same voice actor.

Wait - I just thought of something. Wasn't the Cortana Letters meant to intro Cortana to the Haloverse? Then, couldn't this ARG be much the same thing for Durga, or one of the other characters? 'Cause I could see her getting captured by the ONI people while they're trying to deactivate the artifact.

At the end of First Strike, the Brute Tartarus is ordered to kill the suriving pilots of the ships that survived the attack on the Unyeilding Heirophant.
That MAY be what we see when the brute hits the helmetless Elite.
Maybe not. But it IS an Elite getting hit.

The one at the end is definetly Cortana, I am unsure about the begining though.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS
Also - at about 0:13 seconds.. there's an elite who seems to be infront of a senate... saying
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I will continue my campaign against the humans
Perhaps that's the Covanent structure - a senate style - not just a crazy one prophet leader system..
Oh and in this one, you see whatever the brute is swinging and whatever the brown alien is, actually hits him.. He also opens his mouth - it doesnt look like an elite to me anymore..

The "Rated 'M' for mature" is so the same VO of Durga. It's a good comparison since that line is filtered and the beginning isn't.

Anyone else feel like they recognized the Elite's voice-actor in the new 60 second trailer.
He sounds a LOT like Keith David, who some of the weekday-afterschool-Disney fans will remember as the voice of Goliath from Gargoyles , and some modern TV afficiondos may recognize as the guy doing the voice-over work for the newest BMW commercials.
I really hope it's him. It might just be a close resemblance, but if it IS him...
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn"
Fine choice.

The female voice in the commercial definitely is NOT Cortana. I even checked sound clips of her against it, and they changed her voice if it is her.
Remember, we don't know exactly what Prophets or Engineers look like... and in the books there is a "Leader" of the Brutes that reports directly to the High Prophet...

Well, there is a text description of an Engineer in First Strike.

There is also a pre-beta pic from Halo 1 of an engineer
It's a purple floaty glob with tons of tentacles repairing a broken conduit....

Man I was just watching the commercial again
(The 60 second commercial that is)
In the beginning is a view of earth that zooms in (as you all know)
Well...
They sound like two different voices.... Cortana AND Durga??
Sounds like Durga: We ran from them - they followed
Sounds like Cortana: We thought they'd never find us
Sounds like Cortana: We were wrong
My reasoning..
The first voice is a little louder, clearer and more pronounced
The second is sort of flat, run together and faster
To me it TOTALLY sounds like two different people.
Thats just me though
