It's an in-game faction trying to undermine what the author is asserting, as stated on his home page.
Looks very ARG-ish to me.

Wooho, finally one of these things in *my* backyard!
I onwder if HM is an Aussie? If he's using a local ISP...
Anyhoo, I've decided to play along for a bit, see where it goes. I've emailed a mountainsub comp entry (although rapscallion that I am, I was a bit controversial, clearly identifying myself as a HM supporter!) and am awaiting the nest development.

Mountain sub? that's what the pictures were of?
That doesn't sound that scary at all.
I thought he had found my halloween videos from last year!

Inteloper hi there,
sorry to be late to your discussion but been posting mostly at the darkinsight forum but since the 8th it has gone spookily quiet as have a lot of other forums once busy with discussion andd debate over the www.8march2003.com site
Anyway as of today the mountainsub.com site has gone offline as far as i can see after trying fot 4 hours to take another look. I have done some sniffing around since the photo release and found some interesting facts that maybe show all the sources of the initial story and perhaps the location of the mountain subs alleged location
have a look at this page and do some relaatedd follow ups to see what i mean

not a spoof
