What I find most interesting about the artifact so far is...

McKaskill first touched triangles, then lines, then dots. Three points is a plane. Plane, line, point. Something very geometrically satisfying (and creepy) about that, especially with the countdown aspect.

You think his ability to activate it is on the same lines as how MC was able to use all the tech on halo? I remember in the books how they kept lingering on the fact that he didn't know how he knew what he was doing, just that it all seemed familiar. My spec for the day is that I still think that forerunner and humans might not be too far apart from each other and that explains this subconcious understanding.

Also don't forget how to MC and Cortana the coordinates of Halo were recognized by them because of the Artifact on Sigma Octanius IV, so that is more of a link between forerunners and humans right there.
