I'll tell you something weird, though - it's not as tight a fit as I'd imagined. It's hard to imagine that Jan, Kamal, Jersey, and crew are going through their personal dramas in the same context as MC is fighting off the Flood.

The people in these recordings are undeniably flesh and blood, while Master Chief, Keyes, and Cortana are all cartoon characters. They're really good cartoon characters - some of the best to spring forth from a computer or console. But their universe is polygons and shaders and bright, primary colors.

Anyone else have the same mental hiccup, after getting over the gee-whiz feeling of the reference?

i think its a little tenuous to think that GS343 will connect to ILB, it all has to be done in a context that makes it easy for our friends in the future to understand... halo and GS would just complicate things storywise waaaaaaay to much

as for ILB and Halo taking place in the same universe, i know what you mean... they seem too "real" to fit into Halo... almost the same way the star wars prequels don't quite connect in my mind to the originals

In First Strike, the Master Chief, a Crew of Spartans, and Sargent Johnson all escape while Lieutenant Haverson and Admiral Whitcomb take it to the Covenant armada in the Capture Covenant Fleet Cruiser Ascedent Justice, destroying about 800 Covenant warships and giving the Chief and his crew (on the somewhat defunct UNSC Destroyer Gettysburg) the time to escape, return to Earth, and warn the Navy about the Covenant - and the fact that they know where Earth is.

The Pillar of Autumn ultimately has three survivors: Sergeant Avery Johsnon, the black marine from Halo, the Master Chief, and Cortana. Others made it off too, but gave their lives in service to the Chief and his mission.

He respects it too, because he adds their names to his MIA/KIA roster. That's a pretty big honor for people who aren't even Spartans... not that they care now that they're dead. Confused

The Pillar of Autumn's survivors' report, especially concerning the Flood and the fate of Captain Keyes, would have been of great interest to ONI, and would have probably leaked SOMEWHERE. Durga knowing about it is not a surprise, as she's seemingly capable of ghosting just about anyone, anywhere, including (but not limited to) reportedly dead Intelligence officials and getting news from deepest darkest parts of ONI's most well guarded strongholds.

The MC would have returned to Earth by now, and probably has been there maybe a week or two, debriefing, recuperating, etc. By the end of First Strike, the only thing keeping the SPARTAN-IIs alive is their armor and sheer force of will. They were literally held together by their own might and MJOLNIR suits, so there's a considerable amount of healing that must be done before they can continue with their mission.

Oh yeah. I think part of it may be because those of us who play Halo have been the MC. Whereas, the ILB characters aren't controlled by us, so they seem more real.

Incidentally, your avatar says you're a veteran, yet this is the first time I remember reading a post of yours. Where have you been for the last several weeks? Smile

It seemed like more of a Jersey/Durga .wav than a Rani .wav...but maybe that's just me.

well, now that the gang's all here, Rani is officially part of Team Jersey
maybe we'll just get some Standish/Herzog wavs on Friday

I don't think he's on Earth yet. In the teaser cinematic for Halo 2, the MC reaches Earth just in time to see the Covenant attack begin. He drops onto an attacking Covenant ship in orbit.

If Durga wants to do something for her brother she should be telling him that Sophia DID want to meet him and did not go back to Aiden. She should also spring her, get her her citizenship papers, and get her on a bus to Boston to join the club! That would increas Kamal's will to live and in the process make him a more willing helper of the new team Jersey.

I agree, I don't think there is a friday update this week, at least not in the same vein as what we've been used to the last few weeks. all the wavs storylines are tying up today, whatever happens friday will be tie dinto what's going to happen sunday.

I hope we get an AI fight Smile,on a base that has a section 3 you would expect an AI at least on the level of DURGA to be present.Durga may seem like a god but she's only a demi-god,an AI on the level of cortana would be a bit much to handle

 		I think it's possible it's a Rani wav... we've got herzog today, and I think with the way things are going, we've got kamal, rani and jan's threads all tying in to Jersey's, where everyone meets up for the plan to get into Chawla... that's my thoughts on the matter...
