It could be pretty likely that HitsHerMark would be our best bet so far...

If this is a new set of coordinates, perhaps we'll find another note. If this is the location where this was posted, then hm......

EDIT: *wrangles with his tags*

It's a cypher...

The capitalized words are keys to the first grouping.

AIMLESS = Melissa = 1 10 26 12 4 4 8
GUARD = Durga = 22 5 16 11 8
LEAF = Flea = 23 26 10 8
RISC PENS = Princess = 15 16 12 14 9 10 4 4
SPIN GLEE = Sleeping = 4 26 10 10 15 12 14 11
AT DAWNING = Danatwing = 22 8 14 8 17 6 12 14 11

I can post the whole cypher if y'all want. The message reads as follows:

Construct / Artifact > Seek
Assassin / Dana > Evade
Rogue / Balloon > Behold
Countdown > Reieal (*probably supposed to be reveal)
/Seek Item Cache
N 33 (degree) .38758 W 117 (degree).50563
/Reieal Photo
Send

Plus that hex stuff at the bottom.

Oh ho ho! beat to the punch. So we either need that, or the item cache is a photo with another clue? I would suspect that whomever goes to look for this should keep their eyes peeled for the princess' signal, ye olde red balloon.

Can anyone make those cords? again note that they are in DD MM/MM not the normal Decimal Degrees that we are used to.

Maybe I'm erring on the side of caution here, but whoever goes, please do not go alone. Seems fishy to me saying that they also put in one quarter to ruin the chances of an incoming phone call. It smells of just being a "geocache" someone made up and is relating to the game to get others to play, and my guess is its OOG. You can go have fun with it in case it is in game, but please be safe. That is all.

I'm sure we have some beekeepers there - I wonder if someone can go to those coordinates and see what they find?

Unless... Maybe that is where HitsHerMark found the note? (Correct me if I'm wrong)

That's near where she found the note. All the phones in that area rang this morning, so i doubt that any beekeepers are still there (unless they go to school there).

Ok, I looked up on geocache and the nearest cahce is 2.8 mi away. So i doubt this is a geocache.

Again, its been stated, be careful if you go there, only cause we don't know if this is safe yet. until we recieve indication this is real, by very weary.

I would have to agree. It is a bit creepy, but it fits all too well. So whomever decides to find these coordinates.. go informed, forewarned, and certainly with 50 or 60 of your closest friends and relatives.

I'd volunteer, but it is a bit of a drive for me Very Happy

The coordinates in the note are within a quarter mile of the coordinates for the phone. How accurate are the phone coordinates? According to the topo map, the coordintes from the note point to the bottom of the hill, looks like hte middle of the quad.

here's a description and map of each UCI phone (first 4 listed at the top).

http://members.cox.net/katy-w/ocaxons.htm

I'm not sure which one she found it at, but the note was found on the campus at one of this morning's axons.

Anyways, if she absolutely wont go there, or doesnt feel safe, I MIGHT head down there to check it out. we'll see.

edit* oops forgot the link

Repromote yourself, zaeil.

I am an idiot. <smacks forehead> Oh well, that's why I'm not supposed to do these sort of things alone. I overcomplicate.

I would agree -- HitsHerMark, if you're going, don't go alone. It seems out of character for the PMs to do something like this. Did you post anywhere on the forums that you in particular would be getting that specific phone?

Because, if so, it would be possible for anyone with a computer to have done this. It seems awfully simple for the PMs. And again, a number of things seem out of character -- the "I love bees" envelope, having taped it to a phone (the level of interaction we get is usually predetermined by our permission -- Melissa asks if she can record us, she asks for a cell phone number, we volunteer our email addresses by emailing her) etc.

Take large men with you. I'd send Kali (okay, she's not a large man, but she can disable large men, which is good enough for me) but we're in Wisconsin. Sad

But please, please be careful.
