[EMAIL] Confirmation for the training event

E-mail from danatwingSPLATgmail.com:
-----------

Crew member:

Congratulations. Your name has been added to the admission list for
the San Francisco training event.

Arrive at the mission coordinates between 16:45 â€" 17:45 Pacific Time
and announce your presence to the attendant, who will check your name
against a roster for priority admission. If you arrive late, admission
to and participation in this exercise cannot be guaranteed. I
anticipate considerable demand.

Please remember: You must be 17 or older to attend. ID will be checked.

You may wish to print out this email as confirmation to bring to the
training event.

At this moment, it appears they are sending out confirmations to those attending the San Francisco convention; they have not sent confirmations out to the other ones as far as I know.

I got a little flavor text, in response to the one I sent:

I wrote:
Thank you for using me as an example to the rest of the crew in the instructions for these communiques. I am always pleased to serve the mission in every way I can.

She responded:
Melissa wrote:
You are indeed an example for the rest of the crew. I know I can always count on you and my Berkeley squad.
(snip identical text to DF's above)

Got mine for Chicago. Several other people in the chat room received theirs for Chicago as well.

This is all well and good, but it does kinda sadden me to see Melissa cracking the curtain here and talking about being over 17, and email, and attendants. Maybe that's just because I'm in the wrong country and I can't go. Very Happy

Maybe you need to be 17 to train because you need to be 18 to enlist!

I believe the age limit here is due to Halo 2 being rated M for "Mature," meaning that it would make Microsoft/Bungie look very bad if they let people 17 or younger play the game before its release but not let them buy it upon release.

Or, I'm just making this up as I go along.

I am sure this is true. In New York, the retailers can not sell it to a child without parental or guardian consent. At an Electronic's Boutique, the manager told me they could be fined if they even pre-ordered Halo2 for my son without my consent. I haven't been able to confirm that, but they and Game Stop have really become vigilant about enforcing this.
