bee

BTW, it was Ceantari who made the awesome bee graphic.
Here's the original:

Just a quick OT advert, for those who haven't been reading the individual city threads, the Austin crowd is planning a pre-mission get together/dinner at BW-3 (in Austin, of course) at 17:30 local time. Details Here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=96995

If I worked at Bungie....

Since the beginning, we have turned our nose up at the idea that this was leading up to an early release. I was susceptible to wishful thinking, but I think we are in a different place now. 5 days early is not an early release. That is a limited release. There is also a precedent here... check this link [http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/halo2/news_6109997.html] for a contest that allowed people to win copies of Halo 2 one week before the official release!
The entire point of this exercise was to help a stranded A.I. construct that was..... oh wait.... GENERATE PUBLICITY FOR A VIDEO GAME! We are there. These events are the kick off. They are selective about who they are letting in. Those of us that show up are in the bag sales, we have demonstrated an excessive loyalty. If I were on the puppet master side of this thing... I would reward the followers because it would add momentum to these kinds of advertising campaigns. A big pay off (even if that doesn't translate to a big individual payout) would definitely be in line with their motives. Bungie would love it for uninvolved Halo fans to wake up on Friday morning go to their favorite gaming web site only to find out that a handful of people were given or allowed to purchase early copies of Halo 2. Nothing makes you want something more than knowing other people have it and you can not.
Trout me if you want... but you can't argue with that logic.

T-shirt thoughts

Ceantari? Can we use your bee?

Okay, if yes, can anyone who is good with Photoshop take the bee, make it yellow, put it on a black background and make it glow?

(I love the white background designs that have been posted, but I'm planning on wearing a black t-shirt.)

And, can you put a crown on it?

If someone can do that much, I can take it from there with the "Goddess Army" logo and some Covie-speak. But it's literally been years since I've done any serious Photoshopping, and I don't think I ever learned to make things glow.

Phaedra, I have some photoshop experience (probably not as much as others) so I could look into doing that for you on our fancy macintoshes here at school.

I very much like darkmoonz's setup.

I've been thinking about fonts...

Is there a Halo font out there? I know that they can copyright and limit the use of images (layout of the words "Halo 2"), but does anyone know what the copyright rules for the use of a font? I suppose I could ask the intellectual property lawyers... but I don't know any of them and don't feel like revealing my geekiness. Geek

If you could find it, darkmoonz, I'd be interested to see what it looks like on your design.

Actual copyright rules - using someone else's font without permission = illegal for most commercial purposes.

However, if A) you aren't making a profit from it and B) it's for fan support, and C) it's for use at this crazy Bungie-sponsored convention, I think you are very, very safe.

I'm willing to do any necessary photoshop work for the Goddess Squad. PM me or AIM me at skennedycell during the day, atdtxav at night. I use it every single day (in fact it's open right now). I had the special commendation for the "Contact Lens Visual Display." Wink

One final note (damn, he posts a lot!)

I ordered a shirt off of cafepress (ilovebs) a couple of days ago, and according to UPS, I can expect it on... the 4th. Of course. So if they get there before noon, I'll have it for Chicago. Or I suck.

It's great!

I only suggested it because you had mentioned that you were looking for different fonts. I didn't mean to make life difficult for you. Crying or Very sad
