I just went and checked out the place this afternoon. The roads in the vicinity look clear of local construction. I cruised around the mall and found a few landmarks.

There is a Hooters right across the street! There are some other sports bars and plenty of restruants in the area. Perhaps some of us that are getting there early should meet somewhere. Or we could make a reservation for afterwards.

Count me in for the after-frag-fest-festivities!

gas

Wow gas is getting a tad spendy. Before opting to drive I considered a Greyhound... ouch are they spendy! $120 if not scheduling within' a week. Oh well... $70 in gas is worth playing Halo 2. Cool

I'd send the email in asap, and they will probably accept you. It says the first few hundred crew members who sign up will be accepted, and I'm not sure how many we have so far, but it can't be that many. I got a responce from them saying I was accepted, so you should get one also if you send an email. I told a friend who lives in Chicago about it, and she might come. I told her if she was feeling brave (she is horrible at Halo, but I told her it would be fun to at least try it), that she should send in a registration email, so hopefully she will. I'm sure that even if you send it in now you will be accepted, unless somehow we've gotten above the several hundred mark, which i doubt. you can always show up early and see if you can still get in, even if you don't get accepted through the email.

Son of a Beep - Well, I don't know that being on the crew list is an absolute requirement, especially if they still have slots available. Go ahead and sign up and give yourself an appropriate rank. Maybe it will work. At least you'll know before you drive down whether you are on the list or are on a waiting list with risks.

silly question, but how exactly should the e-mail be formatted? all the info in the subject and nothing in the body? all the info in both? just the city in the subject line and everything else in the body? the page on ILB makes it sound like everything in the subject line and nothing in the body, though i just put everything in both. any help would be appreciated, thanks.

For me, it was ..

Subject: Schaumburg - Stoic, LTC.

Body: LTC. Stoic reporting for combat training excercise at the Schaumburg location.

Alternate ID: My Name

That's almost exactly what I put, and I got my confirmation just a few hours later.

About being official crew

I was not officially listed, but I was still able to register, so you should have no problem.

I just sent exactly what she said - city - nickname, rank - in the subject line.

And I put nothing in the body.

spec on where it will be held

Ok, Ive been lookin into where this thing might be held, and I found something that was interesting. In the New York thread, they said that all 4 of these locations were within a block of a movie theater. Not just any theater, a Loew's Theater. From what I heard, the Halo 2 commercial that started this was only shown at Loew's Theaters. Coincidence? I'm not so sure. I decided to look up any Loews Theaters near our gps coordinates. I found one at 601 North Martingale Road, Schaumburg, IL. which is exactly one block south of the axon. If you look at inio's axon mapper, it shows a huge building that covers two blocks. Our coordinates show it to be right at the center of the building, and the address for the theater is in the southwest corner of the block, according to mapquest. Wouldn't it be awesome to play Halo 2 on a giant movie screen? I don't have time to look into the exact addresses of Loew's movie theaters in the other 3 cities to see if it is true that all four cities have Loew's there (I have to go take a test soon, which I haven't studied for at all cause I've been following ILB so much), so maybe someone else can do that. Just thought I'd share my speculation with you guys, and see what you think.

Edit:Here's the link I got that gave me the address of the Loew's Theater, along with what shows are playing that night. Someone also said that one of the Loew's Theaters had cancelled all shows that night, but I haven't found any confirmation of that yet.

I got gas in River Forest last night for 2.08, and then drove down the street and saw two more stations with 2.18 and 2.21.

Le sigh. I am grateful for a tiny, fairly efficient car.

When you speak of these gas prices do you mean mid grade or do you mean regular grade of gas. Gas here is about 1.90 for midgrade

Just booked my plane tickets, baby! Now, I was wondering if any of you Chicagoans(sp) would like to hook a brother up with a ride from O'hare around 4:30 that afternoon. I'm actually just lookin for someone i can chill with for a few hours before it starts. Send me a PM if you can help! Thanx.
