I feel you, Hyacinthe. I just found out I can go, but I am driving in from Michigan and driving right back the same night...

So, I may not see any of you at the ramp or Chipotle, but I will look for the Goddess Squad shirts later on that night (yes, you too, Angelo...you honorary goddess, you Wink )

What's the worst that could happen?

In order to go, we have to come straight back. Bill's mom wouldn't budge and I just totally bypassed my mom so we can still go. She (Bill's mom) wanted to come with us on Friday and couldn't quite grasp that the event was Thursday. So we will just hang out for a bit, play loud music, pump up on energy drinks, and make the long trek home.
For what it's worth: When I was 17-18 and things like this came up, I started asking myself, "What's the worst that could happen?" If the worst was manageable, I just did it my way anyway and didn't worry about it.
If you really want to stay longer, you have a couple of options:

You can lie. "Mom, the traffic was unbelievable." "The event ran longer than expected." "We got lost in the big city." I'm sure we can find any number of reasons why you simply had to stay as long as you want. (And before all you kibitzers get started, I only want to hear from the people that have never lied to their parents).

You can disobey her. "Sure, Mom; we'll be back on time (not!)" This has the advantage that you don't have to lie, you just don't obey her. (This can feel wonderfully liberating). You may even decide to call Mom when you're on the road and let her know that you won't be back until whenever. She'll be mad, but she won't have to worry that you're dead on the highway somewhere.

Of course, if you'll end up paying for this more than the extra time at the event is worth, just do it Mom's way. I don't want you to wreck your life over this trip; I just want you to think about... you know... what's the worst that could happen?

Dude. You do know what we're all gathering for right? No matter what, we make the top ten list for nerds.

I say we stand proud and go all the way with this.

Uhh. I'm all for this, but I don't think the traffic excuse is going to fly - especially at 12am.

However, the "event" can (and in my opinion) definitely include the group outing to Denny's afterwards. Just figure you'll be on your way home around 1. Plus, you *know* it's not safe to drive when you're tired, so you will have to pull over and take a nap at some point in time, and perferable at a safe location. THEN, you will have hit the Friday morning rush hour.

Overall, I'm all for rebel activity Very Happy

Construction. They were repaving in the middle of the night. Down to one lane. Who knew?

Right: It would be unconscionable to press on if you were too tired. Why, you simply must stop to sleep for an hour or five as responsible drivers. I just don't see any way around it.

Safety first people! Do you even know how many highway workers are killed or injured by tired drivers each year? I would say something close to 87%*

*Surveys also show that 42% of all statistics are made up on the spot **

**This is part of that 42%.

So logically you'll have to just stay for the fun and then arrive home later. It's the only responsible thing to do.

1 & 2) See aforementioned Deoderant and Toothbrush Smile

3) Warm coat - it's going to be in the 30's

4) Money/ Credit Card. Honestly, what can't you fix with money.

Oh, and Angelo should probably check the air pressure in his spare tire!
