OK, so who actually living in Chicago got a copy of Halo 2? Not having an XBox of my own, I'd love to come by and check it out sometime, see what all the hubbub is about. Wink

RoboGRIFF, Anthony-the-traitor, and I played Halo 2 last night (on a preorder that arrived early). It still does me no good to start shooting at RoboGRIFF before I actually catch up to him, but the sword really improves my game. Since I can't actually shoot it (and so give away my position) before I get there, I can often get the drop on RoboGRIFF, now. Of course, if he ever finds the sniper rifle, I'm as good as dead no matter what I'm packing.

Not pics yet, cos I wanna shrink them down a bit, but there are a couple videos I took.

Enjoy!

Why, oh why, oh why must I have red-eye in every picture that's taken of me? Even with professional photographers I get it sometimes!

<sigh>

Just to make sure everyone knows:

If you've been planning on buying xboxlive, there is a 2 month free trial included with at least the Limited Edition. So, if you're like me and have not yet created your account, wait until you get your free sample before you do.

Here on the forum? I'm not sure to whom you're referring.

Once you play some of the halo 2 campaign you'll see who I'm talking about. Sorry, I should of been a bit more clear...

Jiralhanae=Brute

Tantaraus is one of the halo 2 campaign characters.

Ahh, haven't gotten my copy yet. Not until after work, unfortunately. Sad

"Jiralhanae" is also a not-particularly-polite Korean term for a moron.

Hrmmm....

I wonder if that was intentional. I just went back and double checked my spelling and that is correct. I'm going to look up the other covenant names and see if there are any other 'coincidences'.

Brute = Jiralhanae
Drone = Yanme
Elite = Sangheili
Engineer = Huragok
Grunt = Unggoy = monkey
Hunter = Lekgold
Jackal = Kig - Yar

Hmm. Not sure. Yanme could be "impure" in Sanskrit, from what I remember. Kig-yar, I believe, is "pig" in Breton.

That's all I know.

Well, Sangheili isn't ringing any bells for me, as a word, but you could take it apart and get sang - heil (Hail the blood). But that's a stretch. And I think I'm missing something.

Lol, now we are turning the names of the species into puzzles! That's awesome! Seeing as almost everything in Halo has a purpose, I would imagine that each of these have some kind of translation or meaning. The fact the Phaedra knows these bizarre sanskrit and other languages sort of worries me... Oh well, I guess that's how you guys always figured out the SP puzzles before I got out of my class during which they were posted. Congrats on being so brilliant, Phaedra!

*Noting that people find Sanskrit and Breton bizarre, Phaedra decides not to mention her adventure with the Ugaritic poem.
