Here's where deltinawildfire and I are staying:
http://www.americandreamhostel.com/

We got a private room with bunk beds (shared bathroom) for $80 for one night. Not bad at all, and it looks somewhat close to the event too.

Meeting up before designated time

Should we check out the area and see if there is anyplace that would be a suitable meeting place for us, or should we just gather at 550 (or wherever it actually is)?

It would be nice to get together at a bar for happy hour before hand. Get loaded and play Halo 2 anyone? ;P
EDIT: In response to the post below: getting together afterwards would be a great idea also. If you're in the city for a night or two, you might as well get the full ciity experience and be part of the nightlife, no? =D

And I will definitely bring my camera so I can get pics and movies for those that cannot attend.

Somewhat OT, but for those of you live in nyc, are you planning on going to the midnight madness at Toys R' Us? I already have a pre-order for the LE at an EB that's closer to me, but I'm thinking of pre-ordering a second copy (keep one sealed as a collector's item =) just so that I can go to the Toys R' Us one since it was announced that it would be THE midnight madness party. It will probably have lame celebrities and not being very cool, but it seems like it would still be really fun to go to this one just for the Halo 2 extravaganza ridiculousness.

I haven't been watching the individual city threads - but have you considered a pre-training get-together in NYC (since yours will be the latest, a post-training thing might be hard)? Food, chat, a little drinking for those over 21. Might be fun, esp. for the visitors to town. Maybe some locals could brainstorm a place near the event that could accommodate a big group.

Four ARG-Fest-o-Cons in one day (and almost simultaneously)!

/me slides back to let NYC organize themselves.

Well, given that in NYC, the training ends at midnight instead of 9pm, it's a little trickier. My group may not be spending the night, and instead just driving back to Boston.

I'm going to the Toys R Us midnight event and I already have a pre-order at an EB as well. If it's anything like the event they did for the XBOX's midnight launch (also at the Times Square store) it will be really cool and we'll be walking away with some freebies (the Halo2 soundtrack is already a confirmed giveaway). I don't think you can pre-order at Toys R Us though I could be wrong. They're also giving a way 2 Master Chief Statues!!! I could use one of those... Cool

Really!? I didn't know it was going so late. Hey...no complaints here.

Daddy, you said that the Halo 2 soundtrack was a confirmed givaway....where did you find that out? or are you talking about something else?

Confirmed for the Midnight Launch on Nov. 9th at Times Square.
Maybe they'll give it away at the ILB party too...

Here's the link to the ToysRUs TS site--go to special events--scroll down to NOV 9...

Damn....that sounds like a F'n blast. Sucks I can't go....I have school on the 8th and I don't get out until like 9:30pm. Oh well, I have my copy of Halo 2 getting shipped overnight to me from gamestop. So at least i'll have that.

I cetainly hope that there will be a sufficient amount of swag at the training exercise, though. God help my checking account....

Also semi OT, but I was thinking about this.

It will be a training simulation with LIVEware, right? Well that means internet connectivity and headsets (Xbox Live)...

And there's 4 party locations... and there's now 4 sides in Halo multiplayer games. (Red, Blue, Green, Gold).

Gentlemen, while we may not be in the same place as the SF guys or the Chi-Town people, I still think we'll be kicking each other's rears all over the new maps and at least meeting each other via voice communication. Lol.

Mmmm, national thrashings to commence on Thursday. I love it.

Oh, and New York owns everyone else. Lol.

the inter-city competition has to be what's going on, otherwise they wouldn't bother scheduling all parties at the same time across time zones.

I am so looking forward to this.

Not sure if this is a spoiler since it's sort of a guess, but:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think Waterworks is set up so that you can play four-way CTF, but don't quote me on that.

I'm assuming that we will be hoping on Live and playing each other. Maybe we will be in teams based on city and the winning city will receive a prize or something fun like that.

Also, I hope they have some really nice widescreen HDTVs for us to play on if this is indeed what is going down.

Should we start a list in the first post of this thread of all us that will be attending the training? Maybe we could even see who's over 21 and interested in going to happy hour somewhere before hand.

I'm going to call Toys R' Us tonight and see if I can pre-order a copy of the LE and also if I do, if they will have one available for me that night. I would love a free copy of the soundtrack (although I only want Marty's stuff, none of that other stuff the not-so-good bands did).

I am so psyched for this....

I am totally down with an inter-city frag fest. I wonder if they'll have teams setup for us, or we'll just sit at a station and play on whatever team we're on.

You know what would be REALLY sweet! If Melissa is present in one way or another....like she gets on a loud speaker and tells us to bigin training.

One of the running theories is that since all four locations are at movie theatres, that we will be playing on the movie screens. beats a widescreen, IMHO. ^__^
