Confirmed. I think they only check the subject header -- just make sure it has something like

Some people are getting different messages, such as comments about how far they are travelling or what squad they are in over in this thread:

What time on Wednesday? I submitted on Wednesday too, and I've got nothing still. This is very disappointing. And I'm going to drive 6 hours to get there! Sad

Good catch, Mach. What I meant to say was, "All you need is for the subject header to be correct". They do indeed appear to be checking other things and responding accordingly; for myself, I just got the standard form letter. Smile

Coldfire, did you follow the submission guidelines EXACTLY? Seems like a lot of the people who didn't get acceptance letters didn't follow the guideliens... They put something different as the message subject, or something along those lines.

Trynian... I just got the standard letter, too, even though I had a paragraph of text in my email.

I haven't been watching the individual city threads - but have you considered a pre-and/or-post-training get-together in Austin? Food, chat, a little drinking for those over 21. Might be fun, esp. for the visitors to town. Maybe some locals could brainstorm a place near the event that could accommodate a big group.

Four ARG-Fest-o-Cons in one day (and almost simultaneously)!

/me slides back to let Austin organize themselves.

Heh. Not only is the Drafthouse itself an excellent place, but we'll be just a few blocks from the vaunted Sixth Street. I've no doubt that we'll be able to find *something* to do on a Saturday night... Wink

Saturday night?

I won't be there by Saturday. Heck, I"m not staying overnight on Thursday. I would be down for dinner someplace on Thursday before the training exercise, though, if the group wants to get together. The Austinites would have to suggest the place, though. I've been to austin a few times, but never enough to pick a restaraunt.

I would suggest someplace fairly inexpensive where we can sit down in a group, like a Denny's or Golden Corral or something like that. Looks like many of the people coming are younger folk and may not be able to afford dinner at a nice place.

Sorry, I meant Thursday night -- misspoke. There's quite a few restaurants within walking distance of the Drafthouse: Spaghetti Warehouse, BW-3, Fado's, etc. etc. I'm easy.

I was at BW-3 on friday. great place. big beers and great wings.

Most of 6th street sucks, though. It's all shot bars for college students with fake ID's to get plastered and slobber on each other. There's very few live music venues left on 6th any more, and the ones that are left are run by dumbasses, so most bands hate playing there. My band has shown up and started unloading, only for them to tell us that one band cancelled, and another hasn't shown up yet, so they cancelled the whole freakin' show!!! Just this past friday (before I went to bw3), we had a major snafu with the booking at another club. When we booked it, we were told 9 pm, and our friends' band was told 10 pm. The other two bands that night were told 9:30 and 10:30!! Our friends got there first, and they're now told midnight, and we're now on at 1 am!! We went on at the time we promoted, so it was all good, but our friends bit the bullet and got screwed. instead of 10, they went on at 1. They treated it like a practice, and just worked on their new song over and over. Very Happy

...sorry, had to rant a bit... Cursing

The warehouse district is cool, though. It's a bit classier, and also more laid back, and it has the Ginger Man, home of dozens and dozens of beers on tap, and dozens more in the bottle. Not to mention Fado, which has good food, too. But BW-3 I know for sure is all ages, so that might be the best bet for any kind of pre-or-post-get-together.

I'm gonna have to agree with Mach on this one, cheap food is good. It's bad enough with gas prices these days so I'd like this to be a low budget trip to Austin, if possible.

Does anyone know where southwest airlines flys to in Austin? I've never been and I hardly fly so I just want to know how much it'd cost to get from the airport to the thingymajigor (I don't know what building this is at either so...) Any help is appreciated! Smile

Bob, I checked that too and it's like $96 roundtrip(southwest) I think from Love Field to Austin but I don't know any other details than that.

Anyone else in Oklahoma, schedule to travel early the 4th and stay overnight Thursday in Austin. Have hotel reserved for that night.

Starting from Stillwater at earliest time to arrive Austin couple hours pre-training time.
