So lets say BW-3 for Dinner... what time? Sign in for our training exercise starts at 4:45 pacific, which is 6:45 local. Maybe start dinner at 5:30 Local? Gives us an hour to hang out before we head over to sign in, and also gives us some leeway.

Can someone local post an address and/or directions to the place? Also, Need to know how many people are showing up. Will we need reservations? Maybe make them for "Melissa" Smile

Not sure if I'm going, haven't got my invite yet. For those in DFW, want to meet somewhere around the convergance of I-35 and carpool down? Cost sharing is a wonderful thing.

218 E. 6th St.

BW-3 is about 2 blocks north and 2 blocks east of the training exercise, so it's a nice, easy walk. 5:30 might be pushing it for me, so I'll probably be late. I work way on the outskirts of town (which is why I couldn't be an enhottenator Bang Head ), but I can "contribute" to the training exercises after work.

Thats cool. I'll be there, I'll get us a table, ask for Melissa's party.

Show up whenever you can, I'll hang out until its time for the op.

BW-3 is at 218 East 6th St; it's at the corner of Brazos and 6th, which makes it two blocks north and two east of the Drafthouse.

Jimb's unfortunate experiences notwithstanding, there *is* still good live music on 6th, though he's right about the college kids, and the warehouse district (around the Drafthouse and to the south and west) is Good Stuff. The big question on my mind, however, is this: where to park? The garage at 4th and San Antonio used to be free, and so I used to park there all the time, but now it's not (though it still might be the best place to park), so I'm not sure. Thoughts?

Parking info would be very, very good. If someone local could recon, that would be most cool.

I dont even mind walking a few blocks and/or paying a few bucks to park... I just don't want to lay out 20 bucks for parking or something like that.

Parking

well, there's tons of lots if you want to pay (like the formerly free garage on 4th). At that time of day (between 5 and 6; after work, but before party time) there might be a decent amount of parking on the streets. Metered spots turn free at 5:30, so if you park before then, just feed it enough to make it to 5:30.

Pay parking in austin is actually really, really cheap compared to other places. Even on weekends, if you pay more than 5 dollars, you're being ripped off.

I've gottta go, but I'll put up some mapquests of good lots/garages later...

spreadsheet of attendees is now a database in beta testing

Pardon this interruption by an outsider... Leftbrained and catherwood have set up a database and interface for tracking who will be attending which training event. Please take a look at the pages and see if it will be of any use to your group:

Parking in Austin

4th and Colorado
--This area is probably your best bet to find parking. There's a big parking garage that's usually 5 bucks or so, and a pretty big lot across the street from it that's also around 5 dollars. There's also quite a bit of street (free!) parking in the surrounding blocks. It's a little bit of a walk to BW-3 from here, but it's pretty darn close to the drafthouse.

There's also lots of smaller pay parking lots in the area around 6th street. I'd say just don't go more than a block or two west of guadalupe, don't go east of san jacinto (unless you don't mind walking a good ways), don't go south of the river (obviously) and don't go north of maybe 8th or 10th streets.

There's lots of free parking to be had if you don't mind walking, and the pay parking really isn't all that expensive. Very Happy

Ok, I'm tired of trying to coordinate carpools for Thursday... Smile

SO, basically - I'm driving from Dallas to Austin and back on Thursday. I have room for 1 other person in comfort. Let me know if you want me to give you a lift. Otherwise, I'll drive down solo.

It's at the downtown Drafthouse (http://www.drafthouse.com), and the confirmation I got says they will be checking IDs, so unless you have a fake ID, I wouldn't be surprised if you were turned away.

Sorry for the bad news...Good luck sneaking in.
