I'm officially driving down on Thursday for this! 12 hours in a car should get me good and ready to kill things.

edit: I'm the guy from the Prepositions picture.

Can anyone tell me for sure what the closest BART station is to the theater?

The Powell Street BART station is my coordinate of choice, but Montgomery isn't bad either. The BART stations are on Market Street in that part of the city. See yellow squares on map for my approximations.

I concur with missphinx. Either meet at the Powell Station, or at the 4th & Mission street corner. I'm going to be PM'ing a couple of people my cell phone (again). If you are running late on that day, please call one of the contact people who will be early (I will be heading over there around 3 PM, and I work two blocks from the Montgomery BART station. Cool

If you're early, please also call so that we can hook up and hang out.

In the NY thread they seem to think that these will all be at the theatres nearby. I haven't checked the Theatre to see if they have a space that can be reserved for this event. I guess I'll pop by there today for lunch and see what I can learn.

Well, it looks like it was a good thing I gave myself 10% leeway on the coming part. I'll be there! I'll be coming in on the same flight as Steve. I just hope its worth the 150 bucks it coast both my mom and me.
Here's a photo of me. I'll be wearing the same shirt (left photo) at the event (it's been washed Very Happy)

It seems that if you submit a RSVP before 9pm PST, they'll submit a confirmation to you that night between 9-10pm PST. If you submit it past the time, you'll get a responce the following night.

Also, apparently there's won't be too many people at any of the "Combat Trainings" - lotta people don't really care too much: See here.

I would actually want it this way. I'm more excited to be meeting people that have been on these boards playing ILB the last few months, than playing Halo 2.

[rant]
I am soooo angry. My friend's brother tells me that he has played Halo 2. Then he proceeds to tell me about the single-player campain, and how his friend at blockbuster and him already beat Halo 2. He is a wannabe script-kiddie who hacks people's accounts in Ultima Online and steals their items, and I wanted to forcibly remove his lower jaw to keep him from talking! GRRRR! Cursing Damn he pissed me off! The only solice I take is that I will never have to compete with him for a job. Ever.
[/rant]

EDIT - I am so over this now. Just needed to blow off some steam! thanks everyone. Smile

That's so wrong of people.

Yeah, I know a friend's who's now my friend. He's really kewl cuz he's a film major and wished he'd heard about ILB sooner. He'd actually would make a great beekeeper member. Yeah, he told me at the LAN party that he wished he could've made a documentary on our group and recorded sessions and progressions of us through the weeks to now. I've given him tons of links to follow and catch up on. He's actually a good guy - a huge Halo fan (we're actually gonna see him Nov 4th). Well, his roomie downloaded the Halo 2 leak onto his Xbox mod. They told me they didn't play the campaign, only the multiplayer. It's really fun. All of them (4) have pre-orders for Halo 2; this is just to keep them busy in the meantime.

So, I'm gonna have three guys following behind me: my bf (Lieutenant Spade, our roomie (Private First Class Thalazar) and our film-friend (I don't know his name/rank). These guys are the only guys outside the forums that are coming that I know of. So see you guys at the Metreon. ^_^

rally point?

I'm curious, for those people that are going to be arriving significantly earlier than the beginning of the exercise, is there any place in particular that we are going to try to rally at? I wouldn't mind meeting up with people before hand, and I would certianly feel a bit better being in a group if for some reason it's not obvious where we're supposed to be headed.

By the same token, if anyone is interested in swapping cellphone numbers to help coordinate basic "wheres, whens, and whos" on thursday, I would be willing to give and recieve. Just one more way to make sure everything goes smoothly.

MadCow and I will be getting into OAK at 7:35 (that was when the cheapest flight was). We'll be heading straight for the "training" site just so we can be sure we can get to it (vs lost in an unfamiliar city). MadCow should have his phone with him, PM him to get the #, we'd love to hang out with anyone as soon as they can get to the area.

Is there anyone who's arriving relatively near to the start of the event? I think my flight gets in SFO at 3:06 and I'll be hopping right on the next BART out to Powell. If there's anyone arriving at about the same time, I'd love to coordinate and meet up. Smile

weephun - you have all day in the city - or at least half a day Smile !
If it doesn't work out to meet up with people that early and have a local to run around with, it's a pretty easy area to navigate, and there's a lot of neato stuff close by to see. It's supposed to be quite nice, sunny weather.

There's a visitors center right next to the Powell Street station, when you come up to ground level. They will have maps and junk. There's a big cable car stop right at Powell Street. I'm not crazy about riding cable cars myself but it's fun to see them chugging about (and see all the tourists waiting in line).

If you want to take a walk, you could head up to Union Square where the fancy stores are, or you could take a simple walk down Market Street (toward the bay and the Bay Bridge) to the Embarcadero, so you can see the bay and stuff. If I had an hour or two to spare, I'd head down to Embarcadero.

Not that there's not a lot to do right around the Metreon/Moscone Center itself.

Here's a pretty good map (better than my previous one):
