Ok here's a sample from the A l a b a m a 3 song to compare against the MIDI. This should show where it comes from.

I speculate that we're looking for clear one word relationships between the objects...I can't see how else we'd derive an answer from all the relationships. It would just be to vague of a puzzle.
But, yeah, I can definitely see Sylvia as being the answer.

Here's another speculation. The guns around the sides are from all different time periods. I have a large suspicion that if we find the order each was invented or first manufactured, we'll know the order in which we're supposed to be taking these relationships.

I've spent too much time trying to idetify the 18th century fellow connected to the baby. I tried a bunch of composers, but he doesn't look like any of them.
Also, maybe the connection between Mother Theresa and The Matrix is Trinity? As in Holy where MT is concerned?

I added numbers next to each gun for easier identification.
1: Flintlock Pistol - almost like Gentleman's Pocket Pistol - maybe 1770-1780
4: AK-47 (Automat Kalashnikova) [Russian] - 1947
6: Gatling Gun [American] - Patented in 1862, US Army usage 1865
7: AR-16 / M-16 (Armalite) [American] - 1962 (army adopted) or 1964 (wikipedia)
8: Looks like a Napoleonic Pistol - ~1805
10: M1 Thompson Submachine (Tommy) Gun [American] - First in 1919, first serial manufactured 1921
15: FAMAS Assault Rifle [French] - prototype 1921, usage 1972-73
Good site: http://world.guns.ru
EDIT: Changed the image to have 18 guns. Numbers are still the same, just made the solider with the gun in the upper right #18.

Runge could you also post the dates when they were invented/used? I think the timeline is important.

Wow. You're numbering system is totally different than the one I've been using on the wiki. That's going to make it tricky. I guess you went left to right, top to bottom and I did clockwise. :-/

#9. Is the "Puckle" gun, invented in 1718, by James Puckle.
#12. Maxim Machine gun. There are many different versions of the Maxim. I couldn't find a date for this model.

Hey folks, one quick thing to point out. There are 18 guns, not 17 as numbered. The figure in the upper-right corner is hanging down with some sort of gun, and doesn't have a target. Must've been the only pic the PMs could find.
Don't worry, Edmanda made the same mistake at first with his help for us, and later changed it to read 18.

Do you mean the soldier? His target is the billiards and flea, right?

Yeah cath,
the gun you are speaking of is not numbered on the numbered image
and its target is the pool game and the flea.

. SPEC: Could the pictures of Reggie Jackson and the King of Hearts be linked by just "K" (K=strikeouts for the strikeout king, and a card only displays "K" for the rank)?

Just thinking outloud after reading all your hard work so far:
Maybe it isn't the word the targets have in common, but the "Letter" that is needed? Like the first letter of the common word?
Continue the order from the oldest to newest gun?
An 18 letter word is what we need?
That would be consistent with some previous answers (spelling out the next word).
