What Happened/Is Happening to Melissa?

 		What Happened/Is Happening to Melissa?
Have we come to a definitive conclusion on the current state of Melissa at the end of the wavs. The current thought seems to be inclined to believe that the first artifact activation sent a fractured Melissa back in time and the second activation/deactivation sent the Melissa we "completed" back to the future. All the while, a "whole" Melissa (Yasmine and all) stayed in the future (how does that work?). When our Melissa went back, was that what was happening after Jersey messed with the artifact? When she got there, did she replace Durga or integrate with her? Kamal seemed to reason that the Durga inside was "seperate" from the copy she placed in the system on the outside of the clean room (or the inside one was a copy). So did our Melissa integrate with the copy of herself? Why, when the "integration" occured, did we hear the familiar text from the ILB site? What occured seemed to be a rapid repeat of our experience. Was a SPDR or flea there to assist in the integration? Why did the future "integration" occur so much more quickly? By the end of the wavs, Durga/Melissa seemed to be fine. What fixed the problem? And what about Rampancy? (I still don't understand the spec about the "complete" Melissa being immune to Rampancy because of the integration of her emotions and logical protocol)

Basically, I'm very confused and any definitive/"Official" summary of Melissa/Durga's journey would be appreciated (sort of like a timeline). If there is no definitive version and this is still under speculation, then any popular, logical spec or simply the statement "this is still spec stupid" would be just as great.

Again, still SPEC, but what I believe happened was this. Spoiler for those who haven't heard the latest .wavs yet.

When an AI is made from a human brain, they block of the human core emotions and keep them sealed away from the rest of the AI, probably to stop them from having a conscience. Durga in the future was the complete AI that was made in the laboratory, only she was missing her memory.

When the artifact became active, it sent a copy of Durga, a copy that held the memories of everything prior to the Apocolypso crash, back in time and split her personality into the Operator and the Princess. The Princess was the human core of the AI and her glass coffin was the place she was locked inside and hidden from Durga at the time she was made into an AI. We effectivly broke the seal and the Flea merged the two beings into a more complete AI than Durga ever was. We know her as the new, complete Melissa that's seen on the 404 page, but for now let's call her Durga 2.0.

Now when Jersey de-activated the artifact, Durga 2.0 was launched back into the future and reintegrated with Durga 1.0, basically updating her with knowledge of the crash, knowledge of everything that happened to her while she was here on Dana's server, and a new human side she never willingly had access to before (Yasmine). The update lasted a few moments, and Durga was hit with the memories and logs of everything that happened while she was stuck here in our time. After she re-lived the ilovebees experience, she gained control of her new self, and got Team Jersey the hell out of there. I'm assuming with her human core intact, she now has the AI equivilent of a conscience. As far as rampancy goes, I don't know. There hasn't ever been a 7-year-old AI in the Haloverse that was in touch with their humanity, so maybe Melissa+/Durga 2.0 will be spared from rampancy, maybe not.

The part you asked about there being a copy of Durga inside the base and another outside, listen to the first few Oct. 31st .wavs again. They had to open up some ports on the Chawla Base's Chatter Firewall to allow Durga to copy herself into the base. When she got the Durga 2.0 update, they had to let the newer version back out because it was still Durga 1.0 waiting for them outside of the base.

Hope this helps clear things up. It's SPEC but I feel it's pretty solid with only a few soft spots to improve on.
