SPEC:

I think that the answer to this page is simple substitution. Each symbol there corresponds to an actual letter. It could be ROT even.

I converted that string into ASCII character numbers, here they are:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
63,83,3,63,246,168,22,101,12,234,243,189,229,63,161,123,200,113,245,
73,73,237,63,254,112,216,58,92,71,104,143,58,63,88,63,69,91,98,63,218,
221,63,170,189,184,192,174,38,63,217,47,35,121,34,89,240,13,10,14,91,
33,184,13,10

Edit by kona: to shorten ASCII string - makes forum easier to read

Alternatively that looks a bit like binary code. As though it's a file and instead of downloading it to disk, the browser is trying to display it.

Maybe we can figure out what the extention should be.

I use Firefox, and I got a different code, but for some reason it wont let me copy it. I was also looking at the JS source, and there was something in there about the Opera browser. Maybe we get different messages from each browser? Can anyone confirm this?

In case it's useful to anyone who tools around in Javascript, I have tried to de-obfuscate the script in this page a little by adding appropriate whitespace and setting apart the various functions to (hopefully) make it a bit easier to follow... Still looks pretty awful but I am seeing a great big data array full of what looks like encrypted data, and then a bunch of functions which apply various math and logical functions, presumably to tweak and decode that data... maybe someone else can make sense of it?

enaxor asked me to post this. I mentioned that the number of bricks on the GMH brick wall image (not including the ones with the seventh son logo on them) is divisible by 8, so maybe binary. She then did small brick = 0 and large brick = 1 and came up with seeXXXX where XXXX was some gibberish.

She then goes and try "seeker" at the theseventhsons.com site (don't ask me why) and voila!

Good job enaxor!!! Very Happy

(not sure if we're meant to find the first login that way though but excellent job nonetheless!!!) Very Happy

They sure put alot of java in there to prevent us from using our context menues, clicking, or pasting... Maybe thats a big help which they don't want us to use?

Yep. Fortunately, that stuff is pretty east to get around.

The image is here, and the quote is:

Wow Enaxor...when you are feeling better you have to explain how you got to seeker from the bricks picture.

Yay Ex!

And after "Knowledge" comes? You guys in chat obviously found the 'key' in order to get to the brickwall picture but no has posted it here. Or the brickwall picture fits in some place else? Have pity on those of us who aren't in chat and please explain the trail.

Ok I read Rob's guide, which is excellent, and I now know the brickwall picture is from the Gold Mine Hotel site...under remodeling.

As good as the guide is I would really like the trail to be easily followed through the posts here on UF. I sound grouchy even to myself.

The Maha Upanishad is a Hindu philosophical treatise, not a person. I've found a translation here, but the line quoted doesn't seem to be part of the text.

And again, for those following along...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
entering "knowledge" in antechamber.html displays another image (as a background this time) and a quote.

The image is here. It's 404 now (missing), but hopefully will be restored some time in the future. I suspect this puzzle was supposed to take us longer to solve, so the PM's may not have uploaded it yet.

And here's the quote:

"The seeker came now to a town as he walked along. Seven metal
doors or gates there were. Once the final gate was behind a seeker
had to wait a week until he was sent for. This time the one door is
opened by a key that hangs there."

Unfortunately, there's no link this time, so that may be the end of the trail for the moment.

Yowza. Great job figuring out those passwords! Very Happy

Thank you, gb for posting the solve. My daughter had to use the computer just as I found the login so I asked gb to post for me.

Here's why I tried seeker: As gb said, he had mentioned that the brick count was divisable by 8, if you eliminated the marked bricks from the count.

I tried a couple of different strings of 0's and 1's by labeling right to left or left to right, all I got was gibberish. After entering this string
0111001101100101011001011001010110101101100101011110010 (which is taking each row left to right and making the small bricks 0's and the large bricks 1's) and using this application http://nickciske.com/tools/binary.php the answer looks like the word see with two eyes and then the letter r, (try it you'll see what I mean). I figured it wasn't just a coincidence that it was a word with eyes in it. Seeker was my first guess as to what the word was.

Hope that makes sense. Smile
