Actually vid, you missed the most important update on the lg8 page (the stuff you posted has been there for at least 2 days).

New comment:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
<!--lzozqqweinwdvslkzlqknqbwcbmwaqukgbcbvxbaez-->

It's not a ROT from what I can see, but I haven't played with it enough to figure out what it is

New ASCII:

Subtract 42 and convert to ASCII

dont worry about that
he was just trying to distract you from the search for jill
you know...uvz
remember what p said about him

Tho, call me an idiot...but I don't know who "uvz" and "p" are :/

Remind me to hit refresh next time. :-p

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think I figured out p - remember that V. - [yadda French yadda] -P bit?

V stands for Vis, a.k.a. David I. Bickerstaff (InvaderDIB).

P is -postpost, which is someone else we need to figure out how to talk to sometime. For that matter, a name might be nice.

As for uvz and the non-ROTable line....
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I suspect a vignere cypher. That's starting to get out of my league just a bit, but I'm willing to learn. From what I know, you use the code word with the encrypted line to make something workable.

If it is vignere, it doesn't have any repeated sequences, so my limited abilities (using some web tools) means I don't even know where to start. I did try using uvz as the keyword with that line, but still got nowhere. Hopefully we'll get a hint somewhere down the line as to what to do with it.

----

Going from your idea about who P could be, I've gathered what I've found of his to see if we can find out what he says about uvz

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
<!-- who moved it? who moved it i said? postpost --> (door_to.php - the still hungry one)

<!-- miss anderson! -postpost --> (lg8.htm)

<!-- what, no templars? you can't be a kook without templars! -postpost --> (in88.htm)

<!-- silence, please! -postpost --> (in8.htm)

<!-- hair-raising! postpost --> (thebox.htm - when the page was still active at least)

V. - Où avez-vous trouvé cette photo? - P. (archives.htm) [Vis - Where did you find this photo? - Postpost]

---
That's all I found. Nothing jumps out at me, unless he's calling uvz a kook.

----

I've tried entering some names and passwords into the box on yturbans, and now there is a new comment in the source code

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Why doesn't passwd have an "o"? Clue or misspelling?

One good thing about nobody posting is that I can just keep editing this post.

Some comments about the code

For the "Non-ROTable" code, here's my take:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think it is slightly ROTable. If we use our dear friend ROT-18 to decode our text, it moves from:

lzozqqweinwdvslkzlqknqbwcbmwaqukgbcbvxbaez

to

drgriiowafovnkdcrdicfitouteosimcytutnptswr

Notice the letter distribution of the above. It definitely looks like we could form a normal phrase given the above.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Also remember the clue that was on "thebox" earlier. 6by4. I think we have to do something similar here, where we can rearrange the text in such a way that it will form something legible.

I've run through the 42 permutations of a solid rectangle (2-21, 3-14, 6-7, 7-6, 14-3, 2-21) but haven't found anything just yet.

Another possibility is that instead of a Caesar shift, vis has bumped it up a notch to mono-alphabetic cypher. Hmm.. Let me take a look at that..

Sean: Put your ideas together.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
First, do the ROT-18, then go 7x6:

drgriio
wafovnk
dcrdicf
itouteo
simcytu
tnptswr

Which gives us:

New update on yturbans (under Daniels bio)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Daniel's life was purposeless before he found Idunn, but now he is productive as the "system administrator" of the Idunn Intranet; in fact he is vital to the smooth running of our town, and keeps his sanity with a strict diet of professional wrestling and pizza (but only his special favorite brand).

----

(bold was added by me) I guess this means we need to figure out what brand of pizza Daniel likes and maybe use it as a password or another keyword?

Also, in the original post, it said "sysadmin". Perhaps the username to use?

Interesting information on the Daniel Buta page

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
(paraphased)

Daniel set up eight-letter usernames and all the passwords for everyone except Bao 'cause he insisted.

Mace is kind of scary, especially with this full-arm tattoos... doubt he has any clue what that means. He probably thinks the password is just some random letters.

Flora is just as bad, in her way...doesn't even know her Aztec from Mayan, going on about her serpent god.

One other bit of info: the passwords do not seem to be case sensitive. I logged into Daniel's with both tombstone and Tombstone.

Damn..I just got that. You can tell when you get the right username because you get the following message:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Error, invalid password. Your hacking attempt has been logged and will be dealt with accordingly.

Might help save time trying to figure out the other logins.

That being said:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It seems Michael Ace's username is mace (though its not 8 letters)
I tried ROT'ing undertaker for a password, but no luck there.

Master Bao's username seems to be zbao. Still looking for a password.

----

Doing some research on the Undertaker in a hope to find some info to use for Mike's password, I found something a bit interesting

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
One of his finishing moves was called Tombstone. Maybe that is why Dan likes that kind of pizza. He also has a move called Chokelsam and Last Ride, but neither of those are the password for mace.

Man, wish I would have spent a little more time on that yesterday. I started reading 'dwd...' and stopped, thinking it was incorrect. Thanks. Vis' post here is a response to my original comment [which after decoded in much the same manner] read thanksfordistractingmeatwork

One item I haven't seen posted yet is the update of the Idunn city page... The Fourth Day of the Last Month now has an entry. I've been looking at a bunch of chinese calendars to determine who the "sacred artisan" is that he refers to, but no luck there.

Hey if patterns hold up, the above will lead to a password which you will figure out between the time that I post this and check back tomorrow. Smile

I used to watch wrestling and with what little knowledge I have I tried every possible thing related to the Undertaker I could think of. No dice here either.

In case it helps someone else:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Undertaker (real name: Mark Callaway) has a manager named Paul Bearer (nice pun...) and a brother named Kane. He used to run the stable called Ministry of Darkness or MoD. He also has two full tattoo sleeves on his arms, but I haven't been able to find any good pictures of his tattoos.

The only way in which I am familiar with the term "Sacred Artisan" is from the White Wolf roleplaying game Dark Ages Mage. Sacred Artisans are what the Daedalean mages are referred to as.

Yeah, I figured out myself the username's first initial last name; for instance:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
zbao is Master Bao's username.

As for Mr. Ace, the big clue is that it's supposed to look like a random jumble of letters; this indicates a wrestling-specific term; I tried jabroni, jabronie, and jabrone (a rather dim view of UT here), but no luck.

New update on dbuta's page

Daniel has updated his page. Hopefully this is the hint we need to get get mace's password.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'm the one who set up the eight-letter usernames and all
the passwords for everyone,
except Bao 'cause he insisted. Mace is kind of scary,
even though he does like wrestling,
especially with his full-arm tattoos...I doubt he has any
clue why that's unnerving, though. He probably thinks the
password I gave him is just some random letters, heh.
"I'm still having trouble with English!"
Flora is just as bad, in her way...doesn't even know her
Aztec from Mayan, going on about her serpent god...sheesh.

(bold was added by me to show where things have changed)

So back to the drawing board...

----

Okay, since I got absolutely sick of trying to remember what has changed and what all of the ROTs say, I created a little web page that has most of the important information: www.wonderweasels.org/daemon/clues.html
Hopefully it's slightly easier to navigate then searching back through all the posts in the forums.
