Parting Words

Well, like it or not it seems that there are only a couple days left until this whole thing is over. From now until then and for the weeks after, I have a rather full plate so I will have to get this out now.

I have been here for many months, spent countless hours on this site, and have made a conclusion that I would like to share with you.

There is something here, beyond the content of this ARG, that has made this endevour extremely successful. Yes, I'm sure that the PMs, the Voice Actors, the Script Writers, and Bungie Staff have put an awful lot of effort into getting this just right, but I don't think that they are what has made this so special.

The Community here at Unforums has really embraced the idea of working together towards a common goal. I have never seen anything like it. Sure, we haven't always agreed yet even at our worst it was like we were traveling down different roads trying to get to the same destination.

Maybe this is something that happens in every ARG. Maybe people rally together, create great sites to help and support the community, and send each other cash for plane tickets all the time. I don't really know but I doubt it.

I will not list all of the people who deserve special thanks here. Mostly because they receive it and partly because I would hate to accidently forget someone and seem ungreatfull. There is however someone who I would like to thank.

SpaceBass, you have built something here which is very special. It goes far beyond a list of linked together pages and becomes a place that has a reputation for fairness, helpfulness, and friendliness. I am greatfull that you have taken it upon yourself to provide such a place as this and I believe that PMs and Players both would like to see you continue to operate it. It's really quite remarkable.

Thank you for your kindness Unforums.

So long and thanks for all the fish. Wink

I agree entirely. And even though we are saying thanks and aloha, I would like to really thank vipSteve as well. I know his bandwidth bills must be through the roof by now. In the spirit of helping people out, if you can, make a donation to Steve to keep the site going for the next and future ARG's.

Hey guys! I'd love to also share the love of the ARGN network and personally thank everyone who owns a site that belongs to a network that has once again shown the beauty of collaborative play.

Thanks to Steve (ARGN), Spacely (Unfiction/Unforums), Bill (Deaddrop), Varin (Varin.org), Jamesi (for the Smirkbox hilarity), the Hons (for keeping up Cloudmakers, one of the best summaries/guides out there to refer people to), Dear sweet Martha of the Boarding House fame, and our kickass MetaUrchins!

Thanks again to everyone involved and who played for your efforts, your pizzaz, and the joy you brought!

Thanks for the kind words. I need to clarify though, that unfiction and these forums are the work of Spacebass (not me, I'm merely an admin), who has put in countless hours adding mods and maintaining things, not to mention paying for hosting and bandwidth charges. Unforums has taken the brunt of traffic, and Space has done a rockin' job keeping it all running.

Now, as far as this thing being over..........I ain't hearin' no fat lady singing quite yet. Wink

Yeah, i've got to say that this, out of every forum I have participated in, has the best community. I know that, even if there are no ARGs playing, I would still stick around here, solving random puzzles, chatting, getting Douglas Adams references, etc.

Thanks for everything, unforum community!

Thanks for the kind words you guys. I've always said that one of the crucial elements of this genre is community. This community is one I'm proud to be a part of and the credit for that goes to you guys. You, all of you, ARE this community and you totally rule. Smile

I definitely thank space bass as well..i've been playing in ARG's for quite awhile now...i called them "hacker wargames" maybe you've heard of them..well a few are quite close to an ARG.

I originally came here after hearing about it from a fellow beekeeper. Me and a friend seen the ilovebees on the trailer for halo 2 in the wee days of it..and checked out the site..we had no idea what it was, my friend soon drifted away and lost interest..but i'm glad to have stayed here the entire time.

Halo 2 is what brought me to Unfiction, but I will without a doubt stay here through and beyond the ending of the ilovebees game and the beginning of halo 2. So thanks for the great community to both the operators, and the users, but this is no goodbye..i will always be here.

I so want an X-BOX now.... Light, why did Microsoft have to advertise so well, and charge so much?

Actually, they sell the systems at a loss. They make up for it with the accessories and games. (btw, who says accessories are only for women?)

Oh, and you can justify the expense by saying that you'll spend so much time playing games, you won't spend as much at the movies. That's what I used.

As for how great this community is, well I've never really been involved in one of these games nor have I participated in other forum/discussion groups on the net. You all spoiled me for anything else. Sad
