EMAIL ET: Loans (Emails from Empty Threats)

From Star Shine (posted to CD)

Quote:
Got this email from EmptyThreats:

Hey Uvi,
Is that name like Russian or something? We got some friends who are Russian.
They are some bad dudes.
Don't worry about that problem on the webpage, those jabrones at that unknown fame place are doing a new one right now. Should be up soon. As soon as Angie gets her butt back here from vacation I'll have her check on it. She's the one supposed to be answering these e-mails anyway.
OK?

Sal

This is my original email:

Hey Hobie,
Man, I got a shirt that says Hobie on it? That's funny, huh?
Sorry about the problems on the webpage, those jabrones at that unknown fame
place are doing a new one right now. Should be up soon. As soon as Angie gets
her butt back here from vacation I'll have her check on it. She's the one
supposed to be answering these e-mails anyway. And about the phone system
thing, you won't believe it but she's the only one who knows how to work that
too I think. Marco and I been trying to figure it out but don't even know how
to listen to the messages. We got beepers anyway for important stuff so, you
know, it's cool. We aren't exactly hurting for business here, you know.
Oh, I almost forgot, Frank told me to ask you this before I said too much to
you. Who is this friend you is talking about? We like to know who is
recommending us to people for certain things, you know?

Damn phones ringing again. Yeah, yeah, leave a message, we'll get back to you.

Sal

Okay, I definitely have SOMETHING to think about here, so as soon as I have a repsonse (to them) I'll post it.

My rough draft.
Suggestions welcome.

Hey Sal.

Thanks for replying, ya know, sometimes I dont get technology either. I can work with computers, but geez, I'm lucky if I can program my VCR(sometimes I just say to myself "fuhgeddaboutit").
Since you seem curious, "Hobie" is a nickname I go by, not my real name. Everybody has called me "Hobie" since I was a baby though. The shirt you have is proably the sailing company, or the sunglass company.

My friend Dale is a buddy from college. Recently (before a tragic accident he had), he told me about getting loans from a group of brothers in your area! Of course, I can only assume this is youse guys. He sounded almost scared, because you had visited a couple of times... But I'm sure you were just trying to get him to pay you back, eh? Nothing more friggin' annoying then not getting paid money you loan to people, eh? And sometimes getting that money back can understandably require some persuasion.

Anyhow, I'd rather not explain, but I'm in financial trouble and need a loan..... so thats where I thought you could help. Hopefully, you're the right people to talk to, eh?

Anyhow, I gotta go, my pasta is getting cold.........

Hobie

If he answers that one, I expect you to get a pound of pastrami in schnozzola.

Argh. Say Bruce Abbott, not Dale! Mentioning Dale to these guys is a ticket to swimming with the fishes. I'm certain Bruce is the link to these brothers.

Must be more careful with name-dropping or we'll scare off all the characters.

If he responds, I expect him to say something like: "So you know Dale, eh? Well you tell that no good rotten somethin-somethin we want our money or he's dead man and so are you just for agitatin' my ulcer over that deadbeat!".

Well, I got approvals for this, but.....

I mean, I already mentioned Dale anyway. ("Perhpas you know my friend Dale Sprague?")

Well, I'll wait to send this and get more opinions.

Okay, I'll take that as no protests. It'll be sent off with Dale in it - he cant die anyhow, he's the main character. :p

Sending this off soon.

good fellows, well met

Well, if you suggest to complete strangers that they might be in the loan shark biz, you might get a bit of a wall. You could be the feds, for all they know.

Which email address are you using? I've been trying to send an email to both WEBMAIL and WEBMASTER to comment on their site and ask why a resturaunt site would remove the menu from being online. These have both bounced back as no longer accepting email.

Yeah, that bounced too, but I did notice that even the site was down for a while during the day. That is unless the Feds already got to them... Rolling Eyes

I definitely don't think a bunch of mobsters are gonna start trusting you just 'cause you send them an e-mail....i really think we need to be more subtle....and i also agree that we should stick with Bruce instead of Dale...

just my 2 cents....

for comparison

Bruce, who is presumably not in the illegal loan shark business, is wary of receiving mail from strangers. Presumably these guys will be moreso.
