According to the posted credits, Ms. McGonigal didn't actually play the part of Dana (she definitely doesn't look like the Dana from the corrupted webcam pictures), but was one of the puzzle designers. Some quick googling also lists her as one of Sean Stewarts partners-in-crime (and is playfully referred to as "our favorite academician" on 4orty2wo's website).

Gotta love the picture of her setting up the honey jars, though! Wink

I met Jane. I didn't ask her, but others said that they did. Unless I am much mistaken, Jane played Dana in photo format as well.

I suspect this will be a point of debate in the future. I'll know more after I see the DVD finally.

I asked. The woman who played dana in, for example, the "Killer Jpeg" images was some random actress.

Even better, according toJane, said random actress eventually called the PMs in a panicked state asking why there were a bunch of 17-year-old boys following her around. She had no idea what the pictures were used for.

---The Adam, knows about pictures turning up in unexpected places

Ha, that's pretty funny. I feel for the poor woman, I really do. She probably had no idea what she was letting herself in for. Smile

Dana went on a backpacking trip to Asia... and so did I! Her trip: July - October 2004; my trip: May - June 2004. We visited all the same places (Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore), of course. In this photo, I'm becoming invisible at Shibuya crossing.

wow, so that's how they made the backpacking trip so believable
that's so cool, she got PAID to do that
