You know of ALL the charachters in ILB the one that makes the most sense showing up is Durga. She is afterall in the worlwide system network is she not? That would mean the planet would pretty much have to be wiped completely to take her out no?

This would imply ATLEAST 3 more halos

Someone did mathematics of the halo and determined something like 2000 Halos would be needed to wipe the galaxy clean of life...

Erm, the math said somewhere around 6 or 7 IIRC. See Halo.Bungie.Org, I can't seem to find the page, though. Check "Miscellaneous".

EDIT- Foiled Again! Curses...
*lurk*

I thought it was way up there in the thousands? Oh well, lemme go check HBO

Hmm HBO doesn't give an exact figure, only that the distance between two Halos should be around 43,000 lightyears

Oh well. My bad

Pistol Pistol Pistol! The handgun is your friend, your only friend. Those marines there? They're only waiting for the chance to die, and thus, abandon you in the heat of combat. On the other hand though, if you get 4-5 headshots in a row (4 if eye or upper-neck shots, 5 if otherwise), even an Elite on Legendary with full shields would go down in a puddle of his own unclean blood. Now that's ammo economy.

What other weapon in the game can hold over 100 rounds and can take down any enemy in the game in ten shots or less? And that's disregarding 343's sentinels... they're more annoyances than enemies.

As far as an On Topic discussion goes: I was truly hoping the seeker would turn out to be truly beneficent. There was just too much circumstantial evidence to be too trusting though. At least all those who've hated the Flea from the start are now fully vindicated.

Gold and black elites have WAY more shields than that; there's no way you're killing one in 5 shots, even headshots. Even red elites are pretty hard to kill with just the pistol; they move too fast to get a lot of headshots on. However, the pistol will kill anything in the game with a single headshot. (or backshot for Hunters) This makes it an extremely powerful secondary weapon. If you can wear an Elite's shields down with plasma or needle fire, then switch to your pistol and score an instant kill.

As for other Legendary tips:

Elites prefer to avoid damage rather than be aggressive; when under plasma or needle fire they will generally duck behind the nearest obstacle. Use this to your advantage; predict where the Elite will try to hide, and put a grenade there.

Avoid the Assault Rifle on Legendary difficulty. It's a great bullet-hose for spraying enemies on lower difficulties, but on Legendary, enemies have too much health for it to be effective. Most aggravating of all, the Assault Rifle can knock down the Flood fairly quickly, but it has a hard time killing them - most of them will get back up, often while you're reloading!

Against the Flood, there are really only three viable weapons; the Shotgun, the Pistol, and the Rocket Launcher. Considering how little ammo you get for the SpNKR, there are only two viable weapons. In the Library, keep moving as much as you can and don't stay in one place; there are plenty of infinite-spawns of Flood if you get bogged down in one place.

As there is no Covenant Carbine or Covenant Sniper Rifle in the first Halo, the Covenant are extremely weak at long range. In the few situations where you can fight Covies at a distance, use that pistol + sniper rifle to take them out before they get close enough for their plasma guns to be effective.

As for the eternal question: "What's the toughest level of Legendary Halo?" - I'll cast my vote for Truth and Reconciliation. The Hangar Room is the nastiest place in all of Halo. The Flood are no match for Covies coming at you from two floors and three doors.

I've noticed something.

I have no idea when the conversation between McKaskill and Herzog takes place. or if it takes place at all. if herzog is fFaked, and rani has been fFaked at least once, do we have any idea if McKaskill is real here?

Melissa vs Flea

Call me stupid coz I don't get it.

I heard the end of the contactme wav's and thought "That sneaky flea bastard has conned us all". But now Melissa's farewell on the apocalypso page says that SHE did the forgeries in order to send them to Durga. I don't get it.

Looking at where the wav's were located it looks to me like the Flea forged the last two on Recipe3 (carmi and breathing_room) and Melissa forged the other two (needles and the_truth).

But I can't work out where that leaves us. I guess Melissa/Durga forged the call to McCaskill in order to find out how to switch it off. But then what's the deal with the Flea's forgery?

I'm lost.

The flea didn't forge anything. Melissa did the forging; of the 'you're all I've got' conversation with Rani, and the 'triangles, lines, dots' conversation with McKaskill. Both of these were given to us, to transmit to Durga via the seeker.

Durga receives them, assumes they are real, and as a result the Chawla base raid goes off.

I always thought that the Mckaskill/Herzog conversation seemed fishy

I figured that this was a sign that Herzog had planted the virus, but I guess it was probably Melissa dropping keywords to entice the flea (or perhaps it was a natural outcropping of her infected state).

Anyway, the final sequence with Durga and Jersey was... incredible. Whatever you call this (audio drama, alternate reality game, viral marketing, who cares)... it is honestly one of the most moving and thought-provoking experiences I have come across in a long time.

OOC, why is the final .wav called be_with_me? In every other .wav, you hear the name of the .wav during it, like 'module_core_hemmorage', 'blip', etc. So why not this one?

it is in this one, you just can't really hear it past the music. Um, switch the balance all the way to the left speaker, and you can hear everything fine, as the music is all coming out from the left.

When Jersey is complaining about the loud music Durga says something like stop worrying and just be with me.

Poor everybody. Sad No one seemed to reach safety. Awsome experience, though.

as for halo on legendary difficulty, the wife and I have gone through it on co-op 3x and solo as well. people have some incorrect notions about the game, though. For example:

Quote:
... In the Library, keep moving as much as you can and don't stay in one place; there are plenty of infinite-spawns of Flood if you get bogged down in one place.

There are no infinate spawns of enemies anywhere in halo. You can tough out any wave(s) of creatures. Trust me.

Against the flood your best bet is obviously the shotgun. Against small numbers the needler is almost better b/c of the secondary explosion, which keeps them from getting back up (and it conserves shotgun ammo). You have to have some movement skillz to avoid getting smacked around, though. Other than that, the plasma pistol on overload and plasma gun are best. The flood require you to keep your head on a swivel 'cause generally the biggest problem is 1) the explosive infection forms sneaking up on you (with attendant secondary explosions from stray 'nades) and 2) the infection forms chasing and beating you down with no shields. Little buggers.

Plasma pistol on overload will take out sentinels in 1 shot, on any difficulty. They are really only dangerous when you have no shields 'cause they pack a PUNCH on your health.

The hardes part in the game, imo, is beating the multiple guys with the hunter-esque cannons and company on the pillar/landing by the (2nd?) pulse generator. One hit and your banshee is toast. . . .it can be pretty tough, especially if you land on the middle pillar. . .don't do it unless the guys on the landing are toast 'cause they will eat you alive otherwise. Usually we just clear the other landing and ignore the center pillar unless we are in a destructive mood.

I suppose a close tie is close to that when the flood and covenenet duke it out but the covvies have 2x wraiths. Ugh. Patience again can allow you to win out and it's pretty easy if you don't waste sniper ammo on anybody but elites. You can also sometimes get lucky just running through but that's no fun. You know what, though? I think there IS a spot in the Library where there's infinite spawning. It's where there's those trenches and downramps in the floors, and some of them lead to tunnels you have to take, and they're these sort of narrow hallways, and I kept backing up because of the big exploding flood dudes, and suddenly I'd see the whole radar refresh with a teeming mass of red. Rinse, repeat.

So basically, if you were able to keep moving forward, you would not trigger a re-spawn, but if you backtracked, you'd get a re-spawn in front of you, and in back of you.

I remember that pretty clearly, even though I admit I may be wrong. Don't make me go back to the Library level, though. I really ... it gives me the twitches.

You're right, they do appear to infinite respawn, but there's only a few waves of the bastards, and you're also right when you say one wave triggers when you get pushed back. Otherwise, they follow you around the next corner and seem to appear out of nowhere.

For me, the hardest was Truth and Reconciliation. I've never completed that on Legendary, and it's the only one, too. Damned bay and Hangar are HAAAARD.
