I can understand why someone got so mad that they broke it. While ARGers may see ILB as a self-contained game of its own, I'd say a large percentage of the casual gamers* see it as a thing related to Halo 2.

Would I have shattered the disc? Of course not. But if I thought something would get me free stuff about Object A, I'd be pretty ticked off if I got what I considered worthless free stuff about Object B.

* And much to the chagrin of the hardcore gaming groups, they're getting larger and more important day by day.

And then, hopefully, handed it to somebody who actually wanted it...

I disagree. Think about it this way -

Halo Fan A goes to Gamestop. He sees something about I Love Bees. He knows little of it, except that its about Halo 2.

(You may disagree; ILB for you may be about ILB. But the casual gamer will see it only as something about Halo 2. And for the record, thats not 'wrong'.)

So, he reads the article, and clicks a link to ILB.

There, he finds all he needs to know - say something about some Operator sending him/her, and bam, free Halo stuff.

But he/she discovers that there isn't Halo stuff at all. Worthless crap about bees. Whatever. Snap, walks off, waits for Halo 2 to come out.

Or, be cheesed off enough that a Halo 2 thing didn't produce anything about Halo 2 to snap the disk.

That kinda defeats the purpose, though.. this event (and ESPECIALLY the pickup spots with no LIVE gameplay) were for us, for I Love Bees. People not involved should barely even have known, much less been expecting free stuff about Halo.

*Sigh* More idiocy, I suppose.

I was at the point at 6 EST asking aorund, the theatre people had no idea what I was taliing about... 8:30pm EST rolled around and I asked the box office if they had any messages from the operator... and the lady just stared at me... I asked her if there was a Halo 2 event there, and she said she didn't know... so I walked around till 8:45 and saw a box of ILB dvds sitting on the counter. I asked again and she said she was supposed to give them to people that had a password. So I said the passphrase, and her manager came over and said I would have to wait till 9pm. So I waited, and then a group of younger guys came and got in front of me and asked her about it. So then we waited till 9, and she just handed them to us without confirming the password.

So I asked for 2, and she gave them to me like they were trash.

I literaly think there were maybe 5 or 6 people there including my wife and I.

For such an awesome, AWESOME story and execution, the fact I couldn't attend a live exercise because of distance, and the pure ineptitude of my only face to face interaction of the game, kinda diminishes how much the game meant to me.

Bennigans! That's Butters' favorite!

(Any South Park watchers?...No?...Oh, ok...)

I couldn't resist.

But anyway, it's a shame about the DVD situation, but I think that's to be expected to a certain extent.

Hey, Ed! It's me, the 16-year old there!

Yeah, oh well. At least you got 2 discs that way. Did you try putting it in your Xbox? I don't have one, I was wondering if there was any Xbox-exclusive stuff on it.

Nice to see ya over here!

Yo. Good to talk to you and see some fellow ARGers. I haven't had a chance, my friend has my XBox... I don't know if it will do anything neat, but the story alone is worth it to me.

Of course it is. However, I wouldn't mind some extra Halo 2 stuff Razz

I need to find some time to watch all the waves in order. It's crazy just to realize that that's 5 hours of dialogue. Especially when I know that the end is the best part!

Rats. Oh well, I'm still glad I got one. The advantage of living in a hick state I guess.

Although I really wish I coulda gotten to go to Chicago, that would've been amazing.
